We Breathe Life Into Data

At Komodo Health, our mission is to reduce the global burden of disease. And we believe that smarter use of data is essential to this mission. That’s why we built the Healthcare Map — the industry’s largest, most complete, precise view of the U.S. healthcare system — by combining de-identified, real-world patient data with innovative algorithms and decades of clinical experience. The Healthcare Map serves as our foundation for a powerful suite of software applications, helping us answer healthcare’s most complex questions for our partners. Across the healthcare ecosystem, we’re helping our clients unlock critical insights to track detailed patient behaviors and treatment patterns, identify gaps in care, address unmet patient needs, and reduce the global burden of disease.

As we pursue these goals, it remains essential to us that we stay grounded in our values: be awesome, seek growth, deliver “wow,” and enjoy the ride. At Komodo, you will be joining a team of ambitious, supportive Dragons with diverse backgrounds but a shared passion to deliver on our mission to reduce the burden of disease — and enjoy the journey along the way.

The Opportunity at Komodo Health

The IT team at Komodo is primarily responsible for end user/help desk support, endpoint management, and internal system infrastructure. Their main focus is empowering Komodo users by providing reliable, scalable, and observable support and services.

The Senior IT Operations Engineer automates the work that currently consumes the team. You will own the joiner/mover/leaver lifecycle end to end — from an HR event to a fully provisioned employee, and from a termination notice to verified deprovisioning — built on Okta Workflows as the conductor and Jira Service Management as the durable state machine that holds lifecycle state and produces the audit trail. Jira Service Management is also the front door for the service queue, so you will own its request types, routing, approvals, and SLA logic. Beyond the lifecycle, you will partner with People, Finance, Legal, and Revenue Operations to find the manual processes worth automating and decide whether the answer is configuration, integration, or a process change. Automations here are products, not scripts: named owners, version control, error handling, alerting, and runbooks.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have…

  • Automate the joiner/mover/leaver lifecycle end to end across Workday, Okta, Google Workspace, Jira Service Management, and downstream SaaS, with particular focus on closing the deprovisioning gaps that create audit exposure.
  • Design, build, and own automation across the identity and service stack — Okta Workflows, orchestration platform recipes, Google Apps Script, and Python — with version control, error handling, alerting, and runbooks that let someone else operate what you built.
  • Instrument and automate the IT service queue in Jira Service Management: request types, routing rules, approval chains, SLA logic, queue design, and self-service deflection, so fulfillment work stops consuming support capacity.
  • Own configuration and governance for the platforms the lifecycle runs through — Atlassian (Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence), Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom — and partner with People, Finance, Legal, and Revenue Operations to translate their process into working configuration, challenging the request where it is not the real problem.
  • Build custom API integrations where native connectors do not exist (REST, JSON, webhooks, OAuth service credentials), and deploy AI-assisted workflows for ticket triage, knowledge retrieval, drafted first response, and evidence summarization — with human review gates on anything that grants, changes, or removes access.
  • Own the SaaS and non-human identity lifecycle: intake, security review, SSO (SAML/OIDC) and SCIM provisioning, license governance, and clean decommissioning — applying the same rigor to service accounts, API tokens, and agentic identities as to employees, including ownership, least privilege, rotation, and periodic review.
  • Own the automation backlog, prioritize by volume and risk, report results in tickets deflected and hours returned, and produce SOC 2 and HIPAA audit evidence without a fire drill each cycle.

You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities…

  • Proven experience automating IT and identity operations in a SaaS-first environment, with specific examples of manual processes you eliminated and the measurable result.
  • Hands-on administration of Okta, including Okta Workflows, lifecycle management, and SCIM provisioning.
  • Jira and Jira Service Management administration — automation rules, request types, workflows, permission schemes, and queue design.
  • Proficiency in Python or an equivalent scripting language, and strong Google Workspace administration including GAM or the Admin SDK for scripted operations.
  • Experience building multi-step, event-driven flows in an integration or orchestration platform (Workato, Zapier, Tray, SnapLogic, or similar), including branching logic, retries, and error handling.
  • Comfort working with RESTful APIs, JSON, and webhooks, and managing code in Git with peer review.
  • Security-conscious by default: least privilege, secrets handling, audit logging, and a clear understanding of why an automation holding admin scope is itself a risk surface.
  • Experience supporting audit and compliance activities, and excellent written communication with a strong bias toward documentation and knowledge sharing.

What you bring to Komodo Health:

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent) applied to identity provider or SaaS configuration.
  • Experience with Workday as the HR system of record and its downstream integration patterns.
  • Software license management, utilization reporting, and renewal or true-up analysis.
Expectations of AI Use in this role (required):
  • Applies AI strategically and with judgment — knowing which tool fits the problem, and where its limits are.
  • Uses AI to accelerate feedback loops, test ideas, and make informed decisions faster.
  • Has developed or shared AI-enhanced workflows, automations, or prompts with others.
  • Uses tools such as Claude, Claude Code, Perplexity, or Copilot as a natural part of iterating, researching, and delivering work.
