This role will lead marketing campaign optimization for our Integrated Marketing team, supporting our Dog and Cat retail businesses. We are looking for a productive individual with outstanding relationship-building and problem-solving skills. This role requires a critical thinker and effective communicator, with a marketing background that uses channel and customer data to drive strategy and inform creative approach across paid and owned channels. The ideal candidate will be a data-driven marketing professional who can flex between strategic and executional initiatives and work collaboratively to deliver results. Among other projects, you will translate channel, category, and consumer insights into marketing recommendations, identify activities with the greatest customer impact, and partner with channel leads on standard processes. This role will be responsible for evaluating the success of retail marketing initiatives and tests for our Dog and Cat business (consumables, hard goods, and private brands) to find opportunities, ensure strategies are working, and adjust plans to deliver against our growth agenda. Successful candidates should be customer-obsessed, comfortable with ambiguity, and bring analytical expertise to deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
What You'll Do:
  • Establish and lead monthly reporting on retail marketing campaigns, with an emphasis on customer behavior and business results.
  • Use data and insights to think strategically and creatively to develop opportunities to support category goals, evaluating both on-site and off-site marketing support.
  • Partner with marketing channel teams (PLA, Social, Direct Mail, etc.) to conduct performance analysis of retail marketing initiatives, driving accountability, monitoring key performance indicators, and providing recommendations on optimizations to drive customer acquisition and retention.
  • Work with marketing analytics teams to develop or refine dashboards that connect inputs (e.g., sessions, engagement, site journey, audiences) to business impact (e.g., customer acquisition).
  • Develop and coordinate marketing tests to continually pressure test assumptions and inform channel, funnel, audience, and messaging direction for key categories.
  • Collaborate with merchants to understand category dynamics and priorities, participating in weekly business reviews for at least one category.
  • Build processes to ensure collaboration with partners and smooth execution across functions, including channel teams, finance, analytics, media, private brands, and merchandising.
  • Report and present performance results to partners/leadership, summarizing findings, delivering overall recommendations to drive category priorities and customer acquisition and retention.
  • Adapt and support additional critical initiatives as needed.

What You'll Need:
  • 6+ years' marketing experience
  • Proven track record in analyzing business performance and determining the impact of marketing efforts, tying data to back business objectives, and making strategic recommendations
  • Background in e-commerce is a major advantage.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving mentality to successfully work with cross-functional teams to deliver results.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, self-starter environment
  • Experience working with multiple marketing channels and understanding of important metrics (Paid and Organic);
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, in addition to project management skills
  • Hands-on data expert with experience pulling, manipulating, and self-serving data analysis (e.g., Excel), Tableau, and/or SQL experience a plus.
  • Passion for innovation, ever-changing digital landscape, and life-long learning
  • Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
