POSITION SUMMARY

As an essential figure within the PSS Delivery Support Services Systems Engineering organization, the Senior HP NonStop Engineer is instrumental in driving the development and implementation of innovative solutions for our critical infrastructure.  With a strong focus on HP NonStop application development, this role is primarily responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance software solutions.  In this position, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our applications not only meet business requirements but also exceed industry standards.  Your deep expertise in HP NonStop architecture and understanding of application development principles will be paramount in creating innovative solutions.  With your exceptional critical thinking skills and commitment to excellence, you will contribute to the operational success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

Development:  Deliver superior-level development for HP NonStop systems, including system architecture, software optimization, and debugging.  Identify and rectify system issues and software challenges, ensuring minimal impact on business operations and transactions.  Regularly enhance software performance, recommending and implementing improvements for efficiency and reliability.  Participate in system upgrades, patches, and migrations, coordinating with vendors and internal teams.  Conduct system health checks, capacity planning, and resource utilization analysis, adhering to industry standards and security protocols.  Ensure all software documentation, including system designs, configurations, procedures, and debugging guidelines, is precise and up to date.

Performance Maximization/Capacity Planning:  Monitor and optimize software performance proactively, suggesting and implementing enhancements to bolster efficiency and reliability.  Conduct system health checks, capacity planning, and resource utilization analysis, ensuring compliance with industry standards and security protocols.  Analyze software performance metrics, perform performance tests to identify improvement areas, and optimize accordingly.  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to anticipate system resource requirements and ensure scalability and performance meet business needs.  Recommend and implement improvements to the HP Nonstop software infrastructure to achieve peak performance and reliability.

Audit and Compliance/Risk Management:  Develop and enforce security measures to safeguard the software from cyber threats.  Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to data security and privacy.  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct regular security audits and risk assessments, implementing necessary remediation measures.  Contribute to the formulation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies for the HP software infrastructure.

Leadership and Mentorship:  Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance, training to junior software developers, and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and skill development.  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain highly efficient and scalable software solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of quantifiable experience in software development, specifically focusing on HPE Tandem NonStop systems and Guardian utilities
  • 5+ years of demonstrable understanding and direct experience with SQL MP/MX, Data Definition Language (DDL), and ENFORM, substantiated by the specific number of systems worked on
  • 5+ years of documented proficiency in languages such as TAL/pTAL/EPTAL/XPTAL, COBOL, and SCOBOL, and command prompt and scripting language like TACL, all illustrated through past projects and use-cases
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation providing high-quality customer service (1 rotation every 3-4 weeks)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, proven by successful team projects and collaborations in a NonStop environment
  • Robust critical thinking skills, evidenced by measurable success in troubleshooting and resolving complex software issues using the CrystalPoint OutsideView Tool
  • Knowledge of fault-resilient architecture and disaster recovery concepts, backed by instances of successful implementation on NonStop systems
  • Experience in monitoring and tuning HPE Tandem NonStop application performance
  • Experience with designing and implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions for NonStop systems, including configuring redundancy, developing backup strategies, and ensuring business continuity, all supported by measurable outcomes

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$40.11 - $98.05

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
