A Day in the Life

*This role requires candidates to be local to the Greater Boston area for an onsite presence or have the ability to relocate for the position*
 

You’ll spend your days building and refining our web applications, collaborating closely with product, design, and backend teams. You’ll architect and implement new features, review code, and help drive technical decisions. You’ll also mentor junior engineers, contribute to UI/UX discussions, and ensure our frontend codebase is robust, maintainable, and scalable. 
 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our React-based frontend applications (legacy and modern Vite-based). 

  • Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate RESTful APIs and ensure seamless end-to-end functionality. 

  • Architect and implement complex UI features, data visualizations, and responsive layouts. 

  • Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented TypeScript code. 

  • Drive improvements in performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility. 

  • Maintain and enhance our frontend build, test, and deployment pipelines. 

  • Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior team members. 

  • Work with product and design teams to deliver a polished, user-friendly experience. 

  • Stay up to date with the latest frontend technologies and best practices. 
     

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 2 years of relevant experience  

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience building modern web applications with React and TypeScript. 

  • Deep understanding of React patterns, hooks, and state management. 

  • Experience with modern build tools (Vite, Webpack) and CSS-in-JS solutions (Emotion). 

  • Strong background in testing (Vitest, React Testing Library) and CI/CD best practices. 

  • Familiarity with data visualization libraries (Chart.js) and accessibility standards. 

  • Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and working with OpenAPI specifications. 

  • Proficiency in responsive design and cross-browser compatibility. 

  • Experience with Docker and containerized development environments. 

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset. 

  • Experience mentoring and supporting the growth of other engineers.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$122,400.00 - $183,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others). 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
