Job Description:

Role: Senior Finance Manager, Life Sciences (Billerica, MA)  

 

Entegris is seeking a Senior Financial Manager, Life Sciences to provide key financial and decision support to the Vice President, Life Sciences. The Life Science organization has three distinct businesses (fluid management, filtration, and specialty chemical) that design, manufacture and sell products across businesses to a broad list of customers in bioprocessing, pharmaceutical, and medical applications. The candidate will be an active member of the Life Science leadership team and work closely with a cross-functional team consisting of Sales, Operations, Engineers (Applications & Design) and Product Management professionals.  

 

This unique opportunity will serve as the financial partner to the Life Sciences team, helping to providing a comprehensive understanding consolidated financials across the three business units and measuring business performance versus financial and strategic goals. Additionally, as a key collaborator, you will work closely with the operations leaders and controllers to understand operational performance drivers to develop business insights and provide strategic recommendationsThis is a unique opportunity to own the financial processes from beginning to end for a growing business – in the details of financial analysis to the top-level business strategies.   

 

The Life Science business units are dynamic and are well-suited for candidates looking or an entrepreneurial team environment. It will be critical for this candidate to become a trusted, close business partner to the Life Science team. It is preferred that the position be based in Billerica, MA and will report to the Finance Director, APS Division. This position will have one direct report based in China.   

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties: 

Business Support 

  • Provide financial leadership to the Life Sciences team to help guide the strategic direction of this fast-growing portfolio of businesses with a global presence. 

  • Develop strong business partnerships with Life Science business leaders to help enable credibility with the LS leadership team. 

  • Learn all aspects of the Life Sciences business, including markets, applications, customers, products, and operations. 

  • Develop and provide financial models for business initiatives by gathering inputs from business partners and validating key assumptions, to ensure the initiatives support business goals (revenue growth, IRR, NPV); balance the investing in future growth with shorter term profit goals. 

  • Educate business partners on financial concepts and accounting principles to facilitate improved decision making across the business.  

  • Hold oneself and the Life Science team accountable to delivering results that meet or exceed targets & commitments.   

 

Strategic Support 

  • Provide financial leadership in the development of the Life Science long range strategic plan. 

  • Develop financial models to evaluate return on investments and impact on Life Science profitability and cash flow projections, and ensure investments meet or exceed rate of return requirements. 

  • Evaluate the portfolio of business initiatives and opportunities; provide prioritization recommendations to the Life Science leadership team. 

  • Critically assess the Life Science strategy and business priorities in the spirit of improving its path to profitability and positive cash flow.  

 

Reporting, Analysis and Systems 

  • Lead the monthly financial review process, including analyzing and summarizing historical results and future projections; “tell the story” to the LS executive team to help improve their understanding of the financials. 

  • Provide leadership in developing and maintaining PowerBI dashboards and reports. 

  • Ensure proper accounting, reporting, and analysis of inter-business unit transactions.  

  • Partner with Operations Finance and business partners to understand, analyze and evaluate gross margin drivers to improve business decisions. 

  • Analyze effect of changes in business conditions and communicates impact on cost structure and profitability 

  • Provide leadership in developing KPI’s and reporting actuals compared to targets; identify areas for improvement and corrective actions.   

  • Work directly in forecasting and reporting systems to ensure accuracy and reliability of Life Sciences financial projections and information.   

 

Planning and Forecasting 

  • Financial leader in the global execution of Life Science’s planning & forecasting process, in adherence to corporate guidelines and processes. 

  • Collaborate with Life Sciences leaders to prepare detailed budgets and forecasts, including hiring plans, operating expenses, and capex 

  • Support the demand/sales forecasting process and understand key assumptions in sales pipelines, customer adoption rates, sales prices, etc. 

  • Ensure that forecasts meet or exceed financial goals and plans; provide leadership in taking corrective actions as needed 

 

Other

  • Have a flexible work schedule to allow for occasional evening meetings with business partners located in Asia.  

  • Participate in continuous improvement workshops to drive more efficient reporting processes (including process automation and/or KPI dashboards) 

  • Completes ad-hoc miscellaneous tasks as needed to support the overall organization 

 

Education, Experience and Qualities

  • Minimum requirement eight (8) years of experience 

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA preferred.  

  • Ability to work independently on key deliverables and lead financial deep-dive discussions  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; continuous improvement mindset 

  • Confidence to communicate opinions to, and influence decisions of, diverse business partners in various geographies; strong collaboration skills 

  • Proficient, to advanced, SAP, Excel and PowerPoint skills; Power BI a plus 

  • Strong communication skills: ability to actively listen to business partners and other team members; ability to summarize and succinctly tell the financial story to non-financial business partners 

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal control concepts 

  • Proactive, future-looking, positive attitude 

  • Competence in dealing with very confidential data and information.
