The Strategy & Executive Office (SEO) organization is responsible for setting the short, mid, and long-term strategy for Novo Nordisk, Inc and ensures flawless execution of our key priorities. This encompasses long-term strategic planning, empowering and supporting leaders to successfully execute on strategic priorities, as well as driving and delivering high impact enterprise and business unit projects deemed critical to our future success. Furthermore, the Executive Office is responsible for supporting the President of NNI directly to ensure the pull through of priorities to set the direction for the entire organization.
The Position
Provides strategic leadership for US Operations (USO) by developing, implementing and actively managing the holistic strategy for USO to drive strategic planning, strategy deployment and act as a strategy partner to the Executive Team (ET). Leads the USO Strategy team, and is responsible for defining the overall strategic approach for USO to sustain a well performing USO organization in alignment with internal and external performance expectations. Responsible for strategic roadmap, inclusive of ET and Global inputs, support and alignment, to focus and lead cross-functional teams toward development and execution of cross-organizational strategic choices that optimize USO investments and resources. Ensures effective collaboration with other USO and Global leaders to drive strategy implementation, governance, communications and change management.
Relationships
Reports to the Vice President, Strategy & Executive Office. Internal interactions include USBD Executive Team, EVP USBD, USO LT, USO LT, Corporate Strategy and other HQ counterparts to ensure strategic coordination across Novo Nordisk. External relationships include interactions with various subject matter experts and vendors based on the needs of special projects or implementation of new programs.

Supervisory. Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
The base compensation range for this position is $ 181,670 to $ 317,920. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.

- Lead development, implementation and assessment of USO Strategy
- Leads the 3-5-year USO strategic planning process with ET, LT and in alignment with HQ-related functions
- Sets a strategic planning and development framework that successfully engages and influences Executive Team, Corporate Strategy, Business Units and Group Functions
- Encourages and facilitates cross-functional communication and coordination and provides leadership in resolving ownership and accountability ambiguity
- Strategy Development & Management
- Develops and actively manages 3-5-year business strategy for USO. to ensure clear and focused strategic direction for USO
- Oversees USO Strategy implementation to advance market presence and drive growth across the company's therapeutic franchises amidst shifting market dynamics
- Ensures USO planning process serves as roadmap to guide and coordinate various levels of cross-organizational strategic planning, capital planning, budgeting, annual investment allocation and other associated resourcing
- Acts as chairperson for the cross-functional USO Strategy Board (cross-functional LT VPs engaged in strategic work), responsible for the oversight and implementation of the approved 3-5-year plan and associated actions
- Oversees identification, prioritization, and review of key strategic priorities and themes
- Ensures enterprise-wide initiatives, scenarios, risks, and opportunities are reflected in USO investment choices, inclusive of organizational trade-offs
- Evaluates longer-term revenue gaps and assesses future opportunities for growth pathways, including potential new initiatives and partnerships
- Ensure alignment of Business Unit and Functional (Diabetes Sales, Market Access, and Medical) processes and strategies to overall USO strategy to drive simplicity, accuracy, and efficiency relative to pursuing common goals
- Aligns with operational and financial leaders to ensure accurate forecasting, proforma modeling, and measurement metrics for key business development initiatives
- Responsible for USO strategy milestone development and measurement to help leaders, inclusive of ET, understand progress against the strategy and provide basis for course correction decisions
- Provides proactive strategic oversight and direction, ensuring plans are adjusted as organizational priorities change and are clearly communicated across the company
- Aligns with USO leadership to ensure goals and incentives are aligned to USOs ambition, enterprise metrics/KPIs
- Oversees and ensures strategic communications and change management plans are in place and aligned to foster accurate and actionable strategic socialization
- Develop, manage and/or integrate (as appropriate) growth, efficiency, innovation initiatives, in alignment with ET focus and anchored to USO Strategy
- Ensure alignment of strategic decisions to key executive presentations, delivered by USBD EVP to a wide range of stakeholders, including Board of Directors, Executive Management, Management Board, Company Meetings
- Manages team resources to support strategy development and realization projects, and to develop team talent in strategic thinking, lateral influence and project management
- Serves as liaison and strong collaborator with Global stakeholders - Corporate Strategy being key

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent required; MBA or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of 12 years of progressively relevant corporate business strategy development and planning, marketing and brand management, consulting, commercial operations experience within pharmaceutical, or CPG industries required.
- A minimum of 10 years of management/leadership experience
- Solid understanding of the marketplace and competition within diabetes, obesity
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with senior management and communicate effectively to the highest level of executives
- Strong decision-making skills through demonstrated ability to leverage evidenced-based insights and sound judgement into strategy development, deployment and optimization
- Strong and savvy interpersonal skills to work with a variety of internal and external constituencies, develop partner relationships, and influence thinking of senior leadership members
- Proven leader capable of building high-performing teams and delivering results, with demonstrated cross-functional collaboration skills
