Lead DevOps for MNTN's Integrations team, managing cloud infrastructure, performance monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, and incident resolution while promoting best practices and automation.
The summary above was generated by AI

At MNTN, we put our people first, full stop. This allows our company culture to be defined by our team members and their shared values, like trust, ambition, quality, radical honesty, and compassionate leadership. It’s why we all really love working for the Hardest Working Software in Television™ (and also why we were named one of Ad Age’s Best Places To Work in 2024.)

We pride ourselves on bringing unrivaled performance and simplicity to Connected TV advertising. Our self-serve technology makes running TV ads as easy as search and social, helping brands drive measurable conversions, revenue, site visits, and more. It’s what led MNTN to being named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies in 2023. You can learn more about us and everything we do by visiting https://mountain.com/.

We’re committed to innovation that empowers, not replaces. At MNTN, AI is a tool for growth, enhancing efficiency while keeping a people-first approach. Our goal is to streamline workflows and drive new solutions—without compromising the human element that makes our company great.

So if wanting to do more, own more, and make a bigger impact comes naturally to you, then you may be the person we're looking for to join us in our next stage of growth.

In this role, you will be the DevOps lead for MNTN’s Integrations team. Our growing team is building an ambitious and cutting-edge architecture for moving petabytes of data into, out of, and within the MNTN ecosystem. Your efforts will directly help us scale, automate, and monitor every aspect of our distributed microservices on GCP. You will work closely with everyone on the Integrations team, but will also have the full support and might of MNTN’s platform DevOps team behind you.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in architectural discussion and decision-making.
  • Design, provision, and manage infrastructure-as-code on GCP (AWS experience is fine) and Kubernetes. We use Terraform, Terragrunt, Spacelift.
  • Own the performance monitoring, capacity provisioning, and usage pattern optimization for our cloud-managed datastores and messaging systems: Google Bigtable, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage.
  • Instrument our microservices for observability: structured logging, tracing, metric monitoring and alerting.
  • Implement cost-efficient autoscaling and advanced 0-downtime deployment strategies.
  • Establish best practices and playbooks for incident detection, triage, and resolution; and join the PagerDuty rotation.
  • Own our CI/CD pipeline for touch-free build, testing, and deployment of our microservices from our GitHub mono-repo. We use GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
  • Bring the latest-and-greatest tools to automate local development and fully reproduce our GCP environment on local machines using Docker Compose and GCloud Emulators.
  • Define and enforce security best practices, from static code analysis during development to least-permission RBAC in production.

About You

  • At least 4 years of full-time experience in a DevOps position for a SaaS product. Experience where you were the sole owner of infrastructure is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, and a Debate-and-Commit attitude.
  • You can code. We’re not building any tooling or applications from scratch, but you can create Lambdas/Functions to glue infrastructure together as needed.
  • Strong believer in 100% IaC – you cringe at the very thought of provisioning a resource by clicking around a web console.
  • A strong understanding of microservice architectures on managed container platforms (ECS, Kubernetes), including secure interservice communication, API patterns (gRPC, streaming, REST).
  • Experience with large-scale horizontally scalable data pipelines is a big plus. You have concrete techniques and patterns for keeping the machine humming along by itself, without relying on an army of SREs to manually maintain it.

MNTN Perks:

  • 100% remote within the US
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Annual vacation allowance for travel related expenses
  • Three-day weekend every month of the year
  • Competitive compensation
  • 100% healthcare coverage
  • 401k plan
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for dependent, medical, and dental care
  • Access to coaching, therapy, and professional development

About MNTN:

Our recruiters will always reach out using an email address ending with @mountain.com OR @mntn.com. If you’re contacted by someone without that address and they mention a Reference Code (which we never use), then that ain’t us folks. Tell those trolls to take a hike–you’re waiting to climb a MNTN.

MNTN provides advertising software for brands to reach their audience across Connected TV, web, and mobile. MNTN Performance TV has redefined what it means to advertise on television, transforming Connected TV into a direct-response, performance marketing channel. Our web retargeting has been leveraged by thousands of top brands for over a decade, driving billions of dollars in revenue.

Our solutions give advertisers total transparency and complete control over their campaigns all with the fastest go-live in the industry. As a result, thousands of top brands have partnered with MNTN, including OneWheel, Tarte, Decked, and National University.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
