Senior Data Engineer

The Role

As part of continued growth, a new opportunity has arisen for a Senior Data Engineer. As a member of the Science Research Technology team, this individual will help design, build, and scale data-driven solutions for the Science Analysts, especially in the Equity space.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Data Science
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with SQL.
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows using tools such as Airflow, Glue or similar orchestration frameworks.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms, especially AWS (S3, Lambda, Batch).
  • Experience with one or more modern data architectures (Snowflake, DataBricks, Fabric).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, data governance, and metadata management best practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Git‑based workflows, containerization (Docker), and modern software engineering practices.
  • Hands‑on experience developing, deploying, and testing solutions in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
  • Strong experience debugging, optimizing, and performance‑tuning high‑volume data pipelines.
  • Financial‑services data domain expertise is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work with cross‑functional teams including data scientists, researchers, and business partners.
  • Ability to work in Agile environments and deliver in fast‑paced, mission‑critical settings.
  • Proactive problem solver who can independently drive solutions end‑to‑end.
  • 5+ years of experience

The base salary range for this position is:

USD 90,000 - 180,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.   

Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
