Leads creative direction and rapid prototyping for GenAI-powered game concepts, levels, mechanics, and experiences. Builds pipelines connecting GenAI APIs with Unreal and Unity, provides direction across visual, narrative, audio, and game feel, translates creative intent into technical requirements, evaluates emerging tools, collaborates with internal teams and external studios, and runs workshops to advance GenAI-assisted game development.

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

We’re seeking a seasoned Sr Creative Technologist, with sharp, proven design and creative instincts for what makes a game fun. Someone who can turn ideas into prototyped experiences, holding a clear point of view on visual style, voice and tone, sound, and overall execution. The ideal candidate is someone who treats generative AI as an instrument for creative exploration, not a shortcut - in service of finding the ideas that are genuinely good.

About the Role

Generative AI is opening up new creative possibilities for games, and the craft that matters most is knowing which of those possibilities are genuinely good, and shaping the promising ones into something that's truly fun to play. As Sr Creative Technologist, Games GenAI, you'll use GenAI tools to explore game concepts, levels, and moments — then bring that same creative direction to life across visual style, voice/tone, sound, and overall execution so what emerges feels intentional and true to the vision.

You'll work across three kinds of projects: early-stage prototypes and proofs of concept with external partners that push the frontier of what's possible; in-production titles; and internal experiments where you'll do a mix of hands-on building and creative guidance for engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Build and iterate on playable game prototypes using GenAI-accelerated workflows (agentic coding tools, generative image/video/audio, level and narrative prototyping tools) to explore whether a concept, mechanic, or moment truly comes alive — trying many directions in service of finding the right one.

Design and prototype pipelines connecting generative AI APIs to DCC tools and engine-side systems (Unreal Python API, Editor Utility Widgets, Unity).

Bring hands-on creative guidance to prototypes and in-flight projects: visual style and mood, voice and narrative tone, sound and music direction, and overall game feel/execution, translating a fuzzy creative intent ("make it feel like this") into concrete direction a team can build against.

Translate creative direction into technical game design: requirements, systems, and documentation precise enough that engineering can build against them.

Partner with the broader Games GenAI team to identify which GenAI tools and pipelines are worth building out, informed by what actually improves creative quality and the team's ability to iterate, not just what's technically possible.

Work directly with external development partners and internal project leads to give clear, opinionated creative feedback during early prototyping and proof-of-concept phases, grounded in the capabilities and gaps of GenAI.

Run workshops, demos, and office hours to help other teams get better at using GenAI tools for creative exploration.

Stay current on new GenAI creative tools (narrative/dialogue generation, procedural level design, voice and audio synthesis, image/video style transfer) and assess them primarily through a creative-quality lens.

Qualifications

Strong track record as a game director, lead designer, or similarly senior creative role, with shipped game(s) where you owned or heavily shaped creative direction (visual style, narrative voice, sound, or overall execution).

Hands-on comfort building rapid prototypes — using agentic coding tools, engine scripting, or no-code/low-code tools

Hands-on experience building with GenAI models and technologies to create new game experiences — to prototype mechanics, content, or systems that wouldn't have been possible otherwise.

Demonstrated "taste": a track record of correctly identifying what's fun (or isn't) early, and of making prototypes or products better through direct creative judgment calls — able to point to specific examples.

Experience directing across multiple creative disciplines at once (visual, narrative, audio) and synthesizing them into a coherent creative vision, under time pressure and with imperfect tools.

Comfort giving direct, specific creative feedback to both internal teams and external development partners, including in ambiguous, early-stage ideas.

Excellent communication skills; able to articulate why something is or isn't working in terms a cross-functional team (engineers, artists, producers) can act on.

Nice to have

Experience working with external/third-party studios as a creative partner or reviewer.

Experience with agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code/Cowork) to build lightweight internal tools or skills.

Comfort generating quick directional prototypes and previz across a range of tools (e.g., Maya, Twine, Unity/Unreal, Figma, Miro) to align a team around a single creative vision fast.

Sound/music direction experience.

Experience with rapid, small-form game prototyping (vs. multi-year AAA production cycles).
