At EF High School Exchange Year, the stories and relationships created through exchange are among our strongest marketing assets. We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Content & Community to turn those experiences into compelling content, an active community, and sustained organic growth.
In this role, you’ll own how EF High School Exchange Year earns attention and builds engagement across content, social media, creator networks, and our ambassador community. You’ll connect these activities into a coherent program: finding strong stories, developing ideas, making content, activating contributors, and helping that work reach the right audiences.
Based in Boston, you’ll work with your marketing and creative colleagues to help shape the strategic direction, then take ownership of bringing it to life. This role suits someone who combines thoughtful marketing judgment with the initiative and practical skills to build, launch, learn, and improve.
All applicants must submit a portfolio to be considered.
What you’ll own

- Build an editorial strategy that connects audience interests with EF High School Exchange Year’s brand and growth priorities.
- Develop distinctive stories, recurring formats, and campaigns for prospective exchange students, parents, and the wider exchange community.
- Personally write, create, edit, and publish content while coordinating contributions from designers, colleagues, ambassadors, and creators.
- Translate ideas into clear briefs and realistic production plans.
- Partner on website and editorial content that supports organic discovery and helps audiences explore the exchange experience.
Social media and organic growth
- Own social strategy, channel priorities, editorial planning, and content performance.
- Develop a recognizable voice and creative approach that makes EF High School Exchange Year relevant to its audiences.
- Make informed decisions about formats, trends, platforms, and distribution opportunities.
- Build a repeatable process for testing ideas and using audience response to improve the work.
- Connect social activity to meaningful audience engagement, discovery, and demand.
Community and ambassadors
- Lead the ambassador program as an integrated part of EF High School Exchange Year’s content, community, and marketing strategy.
- Build relationships with students and alumni who can bring the exchange experience to life.
- Develop content missions, community programming, and participation opportunities that people want to engage with.
- Identify and nurture especially promising contributors and creators.
- Partner with colleagues in our international markets to maintain continuity as participants become return-home ambassadors.
- Set clear expectations for participation, content quality, and responsible storytelling.
Creative collaboration and delivery
- Turn broad marketing direction into initiatives you can independently develop and deliver.
- Brief and guide other team members on publishing, content collection, ambassador administration, and program logistics.
- Work with designers to produce effective creative across channels.
- Partner with the digital/PPC lead to share insights and adapt strong organic content for paid campaigns.
- Coordinate with Marketing Operations on priorities, resources, timelines, and market requests.
Measurement and learning
- Establish practical measures of content effectiveness, community participation, and organic growth.
- Look beyond posting volume and follower counts to understand audience quality, engagement, traffic, and contribution to demand.
- Combine performance data with community feedback to identify what deserves more investment.
- Share clear recommendations about what to continue, change, or stop.
What you’ll bring
- Experience owning content, social, or community programs from strategy through execution, with examples of work you personally helped create.
- Strong editorial judgment: you can recognize a compelling story, develop an interesting angle, and adapt it to an audience and channel.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, alongside practical experience producing social content or short-form video.
- Evidence that you can build something from an initial idea, establish a working process, and improve it over time.
- Experience activating communities, ambassadors, or creators as contributors and collaborators.
- An understanding of organic distribution and how content supports broader marketing goals.
- Comfort using performance data to make creative and commercial decisions.
- The ability to prioritize independently, manage several initiatives, and follow through reliably.
- A collaborative approach and confidence giving constructive creative feedback.
- Sound judgment when working with young people and personal stories, including attention to consent, privacy, and appropriate participation.
- Relevant experience could come from a lean brand team, media company, agency, startup, or creator-led business. The strength of your work and the ownership you’ve demonstrated matter more than a particular career path.
