The Senior Communications Specialist coordinates and implements communication initiatives and campaigns that align with Northwestern Mutual's strategic communication priorities. These activities inform, educate, and influence our home office and field audiences. You'll collaborate closely with the Audience Engagement team and other communications partners to effectively deliver high-quality content to our internal audiences through key enterprise-wide channels.
What You'll Do
- Intake communication requests and manage editorial calendar.
- Proofread and publishe enterprise-wide email newsletters, news articles, and high-priority email communications from company leadership.
- Consult with various business areas on communication strategy and channel best practices, edit content, and provide recommendations to maximize engagement.
- Recommend, implement and maintain communication standards for department. Confirm that all enterprise communications meet quality standards.
- Plan, manage and implement communication projects and initiatives that inform and align internal audiences with company direction and strategic priorities.
- Identify metrics to measure the effectiveness of communication and assess the return on communication investment.
- Receive a moderate level of guidance and direction.
What You'll Bring to the Role
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 or more years of experience in professional communication, public relations, organizational communication, marketing or related communication field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience and proficiency using various publishing tools to produce high-quality web and email content.
- Ability to absorb information and convert to an understandable format.
- Ability to build rapport, negotiate with and gain acceptance at all levels.
- Ability to solve problems and analyze possible solutions to make business decisions.
