We’re supercharging the clean economy

Crux is the capital markets platform changing the way clean energy and manufacturing projects are financed in the U.S. Crux’s capital markets platform, software platform, market intelligence, and expert team help developers and manufacturers unlock financing.

Our team of 65+ is composed of experts in renewable energy, project & corporate finance, tax equity and tax credits, policy, and technology and AI.

We have raised $77 million in capital from some of the best venture and strategic investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Lowercarbon Capital, New System Ventures, Ardent Venture Partners, Pattern, Clearway, EDFR, Intersect, LS Power, Orsted, Hartree Partners, Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures, MassMutual Ventures, and OMERS Ventures.

An inflection point in American energy and manufacturing

Energy demand is growing for the first time in 20 years, driven by surging manufacturing, transportation, electrification, and data centers. Simultaneously, hundreds of billions of dollars are being invested in domestic supply chains for critical minerals and components. Developers and manufacturers will require trillions of dollars in capital to meet growing needs.

Before Crux, the capital markets supporting this transformation remained opaque, fragmented, and complex. At Crux, we recognized the missing infrastructure: a central capital markets platform designed specifically for the next century of American energy and industry. We unlock faster decision making, lower cost of capital, and accelerated investment.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Brand Designer to own and evolve how Crux shows up in the world. You’ll lead the visual expression of our brand across static, digital, motion, and web. You’ll collaborate closely with teams across content marketing, product marketing, partnerships, events, and growth to bring stories and campaigns to life.

This is both a hands-on and strategic role: you’ll design and produce brand assets day-to-day while shaping the visual identity that powers awareness, trust, and demand generation.

What you'll do
  • Own and evolve the Crux brand. Steward the visual identity system across all touchpoints, ensuring design consistency and scalability as the brand grows.

  • Design for impact. Create digital and print assets including campaign visuals, social media graphics, one-pagers, presentations, videos, and event collateral.

  • Bring stories to life. Partner with content and product marketing teams to visualize complex ideas through motion graphics, animations, and short-form video.

  • Shape our web presence. Oversee design direction for CruxClimate.com, including visuals, UX layout, and integration of new campaigns or product storytelling.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally. Work with growth and commercial teams to align creative output with goals like brand awareness, engagement, and pipeline generation.

  • Guide and mentor. Manage external creative agencies, freelancers, and (over time) a small internal design team to scale high-quality output.

  • Champion creative process. Establish workflows, templates, and brand guidelines that make the marketing org more effective and consistent.

  • Build and optimize the design tech stack. Identify, implement, and scale tools — including AI-powered design platforms — to increase creative output, maintain quality, and accelerate turnaround times.

  • Manage projects with excellence. Prioritize multiple deliverables across teams, balancing urgency and quality under tight timelines, ensuring projects move forward smoothly from brief to launch.

Who you are
  • 6+ years of design experience in high-growth B2B tech environments.

  • Proven ability to translate strategic marketing goals into compelling visual storytelling.

  • Expertise across Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Webflow, and video editing/motion tools (After Effects, Premiere, or equivalent).

  • Experience managing agencies, freelancers, or junior designers.

  • Strong understanding of how design drives marketing metrics across awareness, engagement, conversion.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, balance multiple stakeholders, and deliver excellent work under tight timelines.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills: you know how to scope, prioritize, and deliver design work across multiple stakeholders and timelines.

  • Deep curiosity about climate, finance, and technology and how design can move the needle.

What we offer
  • Total cash compensation: $150,000-$180,000 total cash compensation including base salary and company bonus, not including equity value.

  • Equity in the form of stock options

  • Fully covered Employee Healthcare benefits, including partial dependent coverage

  • Remote-first company with quarterly onsite meetings

  • $77mm dollars raised, a phenomenal team, and mission driven work

Our Values
  • Care for each other: We want to work on a team where people support each other - in their growth, in their work, and towards our shared mission. When we do that, we have fun.

  • Build and improve rapidly: The thing we can best control is our pace of learning and pace of execution. We can't control the market, regulators, or what competitors do. One of the best ways to move rapidly is to focus, and consistently ask ourselves if we are prioritizing the right things and executing them as best as possible.

  • Focus unremittingly on customers: Developers, manufacturers & their advisors are doing critical work to accelerate renewable energy development. Our obligation is to them first, and we must keep their needs front & center in everything we do.

  • Demonstrate ownership: We are all owners of Crux. This is our team, our company, our product and we show that to each other.

  • Convene a team that reflects the breadth of experiences in the country: We expect everyone to actively help us build a team where people of all backgrounds can thrive. This applies in hiring, people policies, how we interact - and connects closely with caring for each other.

We provide equal employment opportunities to all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by law.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
