Senior Associate, Wayfair Curated Merchant

As a Curated Merchant, you will develop, execute and drive assortment strategies for your product category. Your ranges will become our “Wayfair Verified" (Wayfair’s super set of products that capture our highest % of revenue). You will influence how curated product ranges come to life across all Wayfair marketing channels (physical retail, print, digital and social), ensuring accurate product representation and appropriate shelf placement. You will foster strong cross functional relationships to ensure all strategies and goals are achieved, acting as the representative of the customer in strategic decisions on product placement. You will collaborate with Category Management, Marketing, Analytics & Operations, and external Suppliers to ensure the strategic vision is executed all the way to the customer. Leveraging data-driven qualitative and quantitative insights, you'll make a direct impact on overall sales, Wayfair share gains, and empower customers to create a home just right for them. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Build and maintain category assortment strategies, inclusive of developing a shelf space plan and actively selecting, developing and iterating on the product offering
  • Lead, coach & develop a team of 1-2 merchants (specific to upholstery) to deliver against your ambitious goals to transform our curation strategy
  • Responsible for driving Wayfair Verified strategy in owned category including but not limited to: meeting audit goals, creating/optimizing product rubrics and establishing thresholds for quality cascades in like products
  • Collaborate with leadership, Visual and P&A to establish frameworks and targets for Wayfair physical retail assortment strategies, leveraging your team to help manage and maintain these assortments 
  • Own the financial outcomes for the performance of the products you placed on the premium shelf spaces. Regularly assess performance and revise assortment and shelf space allocation strategy as needed.  
  • Work closely with Category Management + SRB merchants to grow key Upholstery segments (ex: motion, custom, leather) where WF is currently under penetrated utilizing competitive analysis, trend research, and internal performance monitoring as data points.  
  • Domestic Travel - ~bi-weekly travel to off site audit studio + attending of 4 domestic tradeshows

What You’ll Need:

  • ~4+ years of experience within an e-commerce or corporate retail organization preferred. Preferably experience in buying/retail merchandising or retail home furnishing planning. 
  • A strong interest in building a career in buying and/or supplier relationship management
  • A passion or knowledge of industry trends, style and product design
  • Ability to cut data and think critically about the business; ability to understand and interpret sales and performance trends and apply learning to the business  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to influence cross-functionally
  • A personable and energetic communicator, eager to build relationships with new business partners - both internally and externally
  • Ability to communicate and feel comfortable speaking directly with C-suite level suppliers from large companies
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once; you don’t miss the details and can work autonomously and with partners to drive projects and tasks to completion 
  • Ability to “hit the ground running” – a self-starter capable of achieving specific target goals

This is a hybrid position located in our Boston office. M-Th in office, Friday's are remote.
