The Customer & Marketing Analytics team drives the development and execution of data driven strategies to optimize customer acquisition, engagement, retention, and revenue for the Harvard Business Review (HBR) media group. The Senior Analyst for Customer & Marketing Analytics at HBR will set-up collection of customer data and analyze, clean, and segment data from various sources for testing, marketing, and email campaigns. This role will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of our digital testing initiatives within platforms like Piano. In addition, the Senior Analyst will design, construct, and analyze quantitative research projects for multiple stakeholders in marketing, email operations, advertising, editorial, e-commerce, and design. 

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain platform expertise. This role requires a high degree of technical fluency across several platforms, including Piano, Qualtrics, and SailThru. You’ll be expected to proactively complete training, dive into documentation, and engage in hands-on exploration to develop a deep understanding of each system’s capabilities.

  • Set-up customer profile data in our digital experience platform, Piano, to enable tracking and segmentation across platforms 

  • Build out customer experiences (including some tests) using Piano Composer and running QA within various environments (Piano QA, HBR sandbox, HBR QA, HBR production, etc.). This work will involve multiple groups including Marketing, Product, and Analytics

  • Manage a website intercept program in Qualtrics, ensuring marketing messaging is timely, relevant, and integrated smoothly into the user journey.

  • Analyze customer data for segmentation and marketing purposes using Snowflake, SailThru, Piano, Adobe Analytics, and other sources

  • Build automated dashboards and reports to surface campaign performance, audience insights, and experiment results. Providing ad hoc analytical support to stakeholders.

  • Identify business problems and working with stakeholders to design, launch, and analyze email A/B tests

  • Develop analysis and documentation with an eye toward automation and reproducibility by creating reusable code and workflows in SQL, R, Python, or Excel

  • Document and present research findings to various stakeholders

What you’ll bring

  • 2-5 years of experience in an analytics role with exposure to product teams and processes

  • Experience with data analysis and visualization using two or more of the following: Excel, R, Python, SQL, MATLAB, Tableau, Domo, Snowflake

  • Background in A/B testing or multivariate experiments

  • Ability to learn quickly and think analytically

  • Curiosity about data-driven marketing and e-commerce

You’ll stand out if you have

  • Understand basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (DOM navigation, string matching/regex, functions, loops) 

  • Are familiar with web analytics (such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics), and digital marketing tech (such as SailThru and Piano)

$85,000K - $95,000K

Above is the annualized pay range for this position. In addition, this position includes the opportunity to earn our annual Performance Based Variable Pay Program. Actual salary will be set based upon a range of factors, including external benchmark market data, individual knowledge, skills, experience, location and internal equity.
