Develop analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks for custom silicon, owning designs from concept through layout, simulation, verification, tape-out, and laboratory characterization. Responsibilities include data converters, PLLs, oscillators, regulators, voltage references, dividers, and high-speed serial links. The engineer will perform parasitic, statistical, and process-corner simulations, create hand layouts, characterize fabricated circuits, and collaborate across engineering disciplines.

About the company

Our client is a semiconductor technology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Develop and deliver core analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks for custom silicon, carrying each block from early concept through layout and final verification. The role blends hands-on circuit development, simulation and lab characterization, with close collaboration across several engineering disciplines.

What you'll do

- Develop analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks such as data converters, clock generation, voltage references, regulators, oscillators, dividers and high-speed serial links.

- Take ownership of individual circuit blocks across several chip programs, from initial concept to the final sign-off checks before fabrication.

- Run thorough simulations covering parasitic extraction, statistical variation and process corners.

- Draw layout by hand as part of the development work.

- Help bring up and characterize fabricated mixed-signal circuits in the lab with common bench instruments.

- Work with colleagues in other engineering functions to turn concepts into working silicon.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- 3 to 5 years of experience building analog or mixed-signal circuits.

- Hands-on experience creating data converters, phase-locked loops, oscillators, regulators or high-speed serial interfaces.

- Experience across multiple tape-outs, ideally in FinFET or 28nm/65nm nodes.

- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with an analog/mixed-signal focus.

- A genuine mixed-signal background, not purely analog.

- Proficiency with industry-standard simulation tools, including parasitic extraction, Monte Carlo and corner analysis.

- Willingness to take on necessary circuit work outside your core specialty.

- Based in or willing to relocate to the Boston area for hybrid work.

Bonus points

- Hands-on layout experience beyond layout review.

- Industry experience at an established semiconductor or electronics company.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
