Position Summary

As a Scientist, you will be expected to be able to use your knowledge of biochemistry and biophysics to independently design and execute experiments with guidance from the lab head and project teams. You must be self-motivated to deliver vaccine program objectives on time and be able to identify and mitigate any potential delays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply biochemistry and biophysics expertise to the design and development of GSK vaccine projects.

  • Implementation of new technologies to help drive vaccine development.

  • Perform high throughput screening and purification of recombinant soluble proteins, membrane proteins, mAbs, and viral like particles.

  • Develop and conduct assays to evaluate the biophysical properties of the vaccine candidates.

  • Possesses strong scientific leadership to enable collaboration with key scientific internal and external stakeholders.

  • Publish in peer reviewed journals.

Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD with 0+ years of post-doc and/or job-related experience, MS with 3+ years of experience, or BS with 6+ years of experience. 

  • Three or more years of experience on a wide variety of molecules such as recombinant soluble proteins, membrane proteins, mAbs, and viral like particles.

  • Three or more years of hands-on experience on protein purification utilizing affinity purification, anion exchange, and size exclusion chromatography.

  • Three or more years of hands-on experience on biophysical techniques including Octet/SPR, DLS, nano-DSF, CPS-Disc, HPLC, UPLC, and protein stability assays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with one or more of the following:

    • Working with PyMOL to observe and analyze structures.

    • Experience on Negative scan electron microscopy.

    • Collaborating with large project teams in a matrix environment.

    • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex scientific data.

    • Basic skills in statistical analysis.

**This position requires on-site attendance five days a week in Cambridge, MA**

• If you are based in Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA, the annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges $89,925 to $149,875. The US salary ranges take into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
