This position is part of the R&D department located in Waltham, MA and will be on-site. At Aldevron, we combine best-in-class products and service with the ideal operating environment to lay the groundwork for vital new discoveries worldwide. You will be a part of the cell-free DNA team and report to the Associate Director responsible for cell-free DNA process improvements.  

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform experiments to improve quality or processes related to production of cell-free DNA
  • Establish new site operations including preparation of laboratory, installation of equipment, development of SOPs, etc.
  • Contribute to the design of experiment and compile data from a limited range of disciplines or technologies to be included in technical reports following all appropriate good documentation practices.
  • Solve problems in straightforward situations; analyze possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • PhD in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline with 0+ years of experience, MS with 1+ years of experience, or BS with 3+ years of experience
  • 0+ years of experience (additional experience with educational achievement outlined above) in an industry R&D setting
  • Experience and working knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, electrophoresis techniques, ELISA, etc.
  • Experience related to production, amplification, or modification of nucleic acids; purification of nucleic acids; and analytics related to nucleic acids  
  • Must be able to develop solutions for simple and complex problems, which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovation.

Travel:

  • Limited travel may be required.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in mammalian cell culture techniques including expression-based assays, flow cytometry, and cell viability assays
  • Experience in NGS or long-read sequencing technologies
