We currently have a career opportunity for a Senior Business Consultant in Salesforce Data Cloud to join our Kelley Austin Perficient Salesforce Team.

We are looking for a Senior Consultant who can operate at the intersection of enterprise data architecture, Salesforce Data Cloud, and client-facing problem-solving. This role is not about deck production or checkbox delivery—it requires strong analytical judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to translate business goals into technically sound data models and activation strategies.

You will work directly with senior client stakeholders, solution architects, and delivery teams to design scalable, high-quality data foundations that support analytics, AI, and operational use cases.

Perficient is the global AI-First consultancy. Our team of strategists, designers, technologists, and engineers partners with the world’s most innovative enterprises and admired brands to deliver real business results through the transformative power of AI.

As part of our AI-First strategy, we empower every employee to build AI fluency and actively engage with AI tools to drive innovation and efficiency. We break boundaries, obsess over outcomes, and shape the future for our clients.

Our Salesforce + MuleSoft team helps global brands design and deliver connected, data-driven experiences that drive enterprise-wide transformation. As a Salesforce Partner and trusted MuleSoft advisor, we combine strategic guidance, industry accelerators, and AI-powered solutions across healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, and more to help clients unlock the full potential of the Salesforce ecosystem.

Perficient is always looking for the best and brightest talent and we need you! We’re a quickly-growing, global digital consulting leader, and we’re transforming the world’s largest enterprises and biggest brands. You’ll work with the latest technologies, expand your skills, and become a part of our global community of talented, diverse, and knowledgeable colleagues.

Responsibilities

About the Role
Perficient's Salesforce practice is growing its Data Cloud capability, and we need people who can do the real work, not just configure out of a playbook. As a Senior Consultant, you'll be embedded in client delivery engagements designing and building Data Cloud solutions from the ground up: data modeling, ingestion architecture, identity resolution, batch transforms, and activation. You'll be expected to lead the technical conversation with clients, make opinionated design calls, and catch problems before they become production incidents.

This is not a role for someone who follows templates. It's for someone who understands why the platform behaves the way it does and can explain that clearly to both a data engineer and a VP of Marketing.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement Data Cloud solutions including DLO/DMO mappings, data stream configuration, identity resolution rules, and calculated insights
  • Architect ingestion patterns across batch, streaming, and API-based connectors, and know when to use each
  • Build and troubleshoot batch transforms, including diagnosing silent failures, write-mode conflicts, SQL dialect limitations, and NULL propagation issues
  • Define unified profile strategies: determine primary keys, hash key discipline, and how identity resolution resolves across source systems
  • Lead data modeling sessions with clients, establishing what belongs in the canonical data model vs. what stays in source-specific DLOs
  • Translate business requirements into technical design documents that a junior consultant can actually implement
  • Push back on requirements that are architecturally incoherent and propose alternatives with clear tradeoffs
  • Support pre-sales scoping on Data Cloud opportunities, including effort estimation and risk identification
Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 4+ years in data, analytics, CRM, or enterprise systems consulting, with at least 2 years hands-on in Salesforce Data Cloud or a comparable CDP (e.g., Segment, Adobe RTCDP, mParticle)
  • Demonstrated experience with DLO-to-DMO mapping, data stream setup, and canonical data model design in Data Cloud
  • Solid understanding of identity resolution: how match rules work, ruleset ordering, and when unified profiles break in unexpected ways
  • Hands-on experience building batch transforms and debugging them, including familiarity with the platform's known limitations (zero-row output failures, UPSERT vs. OVERWRITE write modes, unsupported SQL operators)
  • Comfortable reading and reasoning through SQL and JSON: you don't need to be a developer, but you need to understand what a query is doing and why it's returning wrong results
  • Experience working directly with clients in a delivery or advisory capacity, running working sessions, presenting design decisions, managing scope conversations
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation: data flow diagrams, field mapping specs, design decision logs

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Salesforce Data Cloud Consultant certification (or actively pursuing)
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Personalization and how they consume Data Cloud segments and activations
  • Familiarity with Agentforce or Data Cloud's role in grounding AI agents with unified profile data
  • Experience integrating Data Cloud via MuleSoft, Boomi, or Celigo
  • Prior consulting firm experience (big 4, boutique SI, or similar)

What Makes Someone Successful Here
You're comfortable saying "that requirement doesn't make sense" and then explaining why, calmly, with alternatives. You can hold a whiteboard session with a client's data architect in the morning and write a field mapping spec in the afternoon. You know the difference between a platform limitation and a design mistake, and you've been burned by both enough to build that awareness into your delivery habits.
You don't need a rigid process to stay organized. You do need the judgment to know when to escalate, when to just decide, and when to slow down and ask a better question.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled or the posting is removed.
