ROLE OVERVIEW

Benchling Enterprise Scientific Solution Consultants (SSC) are the primary solution leads with Benchling’s largest customers and prospects. Their solutions are deployed into complex enterprise IT environments, interfacing with other vendor solutions, lab instruments, and legacy applications. This is a highly visible role that partners with both external and internal teams to develop the optimal solutions that drive the most value for our customers. The Enterprise SSC is a pre-sales role, and as such works closely with Benchling sales leadership, account executives, professional services, and product leaders to ensure the best solutions are presented. Enterprise SSCs work with senior scientific and IT leaders from prospects and customers, to establish credibility and confidence from the first meeting, and to create solutions based on cutting-edge technologies.

The Enterprise SSC (Development and Manufacturing) must be comfortable with Life Sciences development  processes and interpreting novel scientific concepts, have experience with enterprise SaaS solutions, and be adept at working with internal and external leaders and stakeholders. You must work as a trusted adviser to translate customer objectives into detailed solutions and effectively communicate and demonstrate those solutions to prospects and customers.

Ensure that the solution is presented competitively, with awareness of alternatives including build in house.
  • Engage with product management to provide insight into prospect and customer needs and industry trends. Influence the roadmap for market success. Ensure that the roadmap is clear to customers as required to influence buying decisions.
  • Provide leadership by creating reusable solutions, content, and training for key areas. Work with the extended team to ensure that they are successful and learn from your expertise. Mentor and partner with other SSCs to build their success.
  • Espouse Benchling's core leadership principles and cultural values.
ABOUT YOU
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline such as Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field, with 6+ years of professional experience with biotech/biopharma development/manufacturing or PhD/M.S. with 4+ years of professional experience with biotech/biopharma development/manufacturing. An Insider's view of Benchling

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

It's great! As someone who enjoys pursuing hobbies outside of work, I value having a healthy work-life balance. I've rarely, if ever, felt the need to work at night or on the weekend. And the company's vacation policy is incredibly flexible; my manager insists that people on the team take care of themselves and take regular vacations.

Steven

Software Engineer

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

As a recruiter, I've found it really easy to collaborate with my hiring partners. I strategize the hiring needs in weekly meetings, candidate huddles, and via collaborative software. I collaborate with different teams to guide blog post topics, plan our first remote internship program, and use recruiting data to improve on our interview process.

Chanel

University Recruiter

How does the company support your career growth?

I personally feel that I’ve been able to really accelerate my learnings and professional growth by being provided opportunities I believe I wouldn’t have been able to gain at any other company. Benchling has done an extraordinary job at assessing my current skills and fitting me into a role that I was well suited for, personally and professionally.

Madeleine

Implementation Consultant

How do you make yourself accessible to the rest of the team?

We have a truly open-door environment from the leadership level down. We take every opportunity to engage everyone and keep an open dialogue about what our employees need to stay healthy and happy. Our managers take a great deal of care in creating a safe space for employees to talk openly about how they're doing and what they may need help with.

Rene

Vice President, Customer Experience

What’s the vibe like in the office?

The mission driven culture defines our day to day in the "office" (or Zoom meetings/Slack messaging). I've never worked at a company where there's such a permeating sense of optimism. People are generous with their time and knowledge, but still remain humble. Also, Aloha Fridays keep our vibes in check.
