BDR Manager, Enterprise
We're creating a brand new role to support a new team here at Drift. If you’re a Sales Development Manager or Business Development Manager, and interested in reinventing the BDR / SDR category, then we’d like to hear from you about this role.
At Drift, we’re creating the new way businesses buy from businesses, so we want to create a new type of business development team. Drift helps businesses connect NOW with the people who are ready to buy now (vs. chasing down form submissions and hammering the phones with cold calls), so we’re building a team to help support that (and then we’ll have an opportunity to teach our customers how to do the same).
We want you to build and lead a brand new team of BDRs (Business Development Reps) at Drift to support the Enterprise Sales team. BDRs will be responsible for outbound prospecting, developing relationships with mid-market and enterprise accounts via chat and traditional channels.
If you’ve led a BDR team before but are ready to re-write the modern playbook here at Drift, this role might be for you. You will become the world’s leading expert in incorporating chat and conversational selling into the marketing and sales process.
At Drift, team members:
- Have complete ownership and accountability over their role and functional area
- Have complete transparency into the rest of the company (and are expected to show their work and do the same)
- Have a sense of urgency. We are building a once in a lifetime company at Drift, so we move fast every single day.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
Responsibilities:
- Hire, mentor and develop the business development team (outbound prospecting)
- Develop team’s skills across prospecting, lead & meeting qualification, customer interaction, and systems and tools
- Maintain a strong focus on outcomes and impact. Closely monitor metrics – everything from emails / dials per day, conversion rates to meetings and opportunities, hand-off to sales and close rates – with the aim to increase BDR productivity, contribution to pipeline and bookings, and promotion eligibility
- Mentor and train by example by participating and leading prospect meetings or engaging other company resources as required
- Refine & evolve a scalable, measurable and predictable process for running and growing the team and improving productivity
- Work closely with sales managers and account executives to ensure proper alignment on account coverage, target personas, opportunity quality and follow-up on hand-off
- Provide weekly reporting on volume statistics, lead pipeline, conversion to qualified prospects, sales opportunities generated and campaign effectiveness
- Articulate business value of Drift, and maintain in-depth knowledge of the Drift platform, competitors, and industry trends
- Ultimately, become a subject-matter expert in incorporating chat and conversational selling into the marketing and sales process
Requirements:
A leader with passion for marketing and sales technologies and a desire to build a career in the leader in conversational sales and marketing:
- Minimum 1+ years directly managing a team of SDR/BDR’s
- Successful experience collaborating with Account Executives and Marketing to craft and hone messages, scripts and email communications for target audiences
- Expert in using Salesforce.com and other sales tools/products to drive your team’s effectiveness in achieving all sales goals.
- 5+ years of experience in telemarketing, sales development or sales management, preferably in business applications, with a consistent proven track record of over achievement of quota expectations
- Proven ability to effectively hire and train new representatives
- Excellent presentation and listening skills
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills
- Strong relationship building and people management skills
- Knowledge of Sales and Marketing solutions including chat platforms a plus
