We’re looking for...

A Business Development Representative to propel Ekotrope’s growth by supporting the entire sales cycle from identification through onboarding of new clients. Often the first point of contact for potential clients, you’ll be responsible for initial contact, educating the client on our products, and making a positive impression that sets the tone for a growing relationship.

To excel in this role, you should be a self-starter who can communicate our value proposition and generate new ideas for increasing our sales pipeline. Ekotrope is a fast-growing company and fast-paced environment, and you will need to quickly develop a nuanced understanding of our business, business model, clients and products.

Responsibilities

Identify and qualify leads to support the Sales pipeline

  • Become an expert in our sales and client support processes from start to finish
  • Conduct high-level conversations that introduce in-bound leads to Ekotrope
  • Identify new prospects and contacts; qualify and prioritize a strong pipeline of new business opportunities through 1:1 conversations and email communication
  • Collaborate with our Marketing Team to understand brand voice and messaging and develop digital and event-based lead generation strategies

Support Business Development and Sales teams’ interactions with and engagement of new leads and prospects

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our client goals, needs, challenges--and how clients can best leverage Ekotrope solutions to achieve their goals
  • Schedule client meetings and support Sales, Business Development and Account Management in preparing for meetings, including setting meeting agendas, supporting meeting execution, and managing meeting follow-up
  • Work closely with our Sales and Support teams throughout sales cycle, managing contacts and keeping them engaged through targeted communication

Conduct market and client research in support of pipeline activity and new campaigns

  • Research potential clients and develop a plan for connecting with them
  • Prepare client profiles in preparation for pitch and renewal meetings
  • Conduct research to identify sales trends and opportunities in the marketplace

Maintain reporting systems, provide actionable recommendations, and continuously improve sales performance

  • Develop systems to test, measure, and improve outreach effectiveness
  • Support tracking and reporting on key metrics
  • Take the lead in investigating and implementing new technologies, services, automation capabilities, and/or vendor solutions

Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a sales or customer support role at a high-growth technology company
  • Strong interest or experience in technology, energy efficiency, software / SaaS
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills, high level of efficiency, and ability to manage priorities and operations across multiple projects, especially in a dynamic, fast-paced organization
  • Natural curiosity and a strong desire to learn about the sales process, the people and companies you’re prospecting, Ekotrope’s product solutions, and the energy efficiency industry more broadly
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to learn quickly, take ownership of decision-making, and work with limited supervision while driving cross-functional initiatives
  • A positive, can-do and self-directed attitude
  • Track record of high achievement
  • A good sense of humor and interest in being an important part of a growing team
  • Experience with tools such as SQL and Excel (or similar) a major plus
  • Experience supporting the energy efficiency initiatives of a major electric or gas utility a major plus

If you’re not sure whether you cover all these but feel passionate about our work, we strongly encourage you to apply.

About Us
Ekotrope is a customer-centric software company that believes our success is predicated on our customers’ success. We run the most widely-used Home Energy Rating Software used in about 1 in 5 of new homes built in the US each year.  Our clients for this product are home energy raters who work with home builders to help design more energy efficient homes and then inspect and certify those homes.  We also help utilities run their energy efficiency programs (e.g. Mass Save) more effectively.  To date, most of our work has been focused on low-rise single and multi-family homes but we are now expanding to provide solutions for existing homes and larger multi-family buildings.

Ekotrope offers a full benefits package, including comprehensive health insurance and a 401K program.  Our headquarters is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Boston, just blocks from the T (Green, Red, Orange, Blue lines), commuter rail and buses.

This Company is an equal opportunity employer, and selects individuals best matched for the job based upon job-related qualifications regardless of race, religion, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, age, ancestry, national origin, gender identity, genetic information, disability, pregnancy, veteran or military status or any other status or characteristic protected by law.

*Note: We are working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic and plan to return to the Boston office when it is safe to do so.

An Insider's view of Ekotrope

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

Ekotrope is a small company made up of teammates who want to see you succeed. While most of us operate on the typical 9-5, the team is flexible and if for whatever reason you need more time with family, are juggling other responsibilities, or simply perform better in a different work environment then we’re happy to help make that happen.

Sara

Marketing Associate

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

We're driving a cultural shift: enabling energy efficiency with our modeling and analytics insights. We’re reducing the lead time and effort required for designing energy-efficient buildings while integrating different industry segments including builders, energy raters, utility companies and building parts manufacturers.

Yatharth

Energy Modeling Engineer

How does the company support your career growth?

Ekotrope provides me with opportunities to grow my career both on the technical side, and on the people side. From my first day as an Software Engineering Intern, no part of our technology was off limits to me. As a Software Engineer II and a Team Lead, good communication is highly valued, and I receive constructive feedback on soft skills.

Harrison

Software Engineer II & Team Lead

What unique initiatives do you have that encourage innovation?

We believe in a concept called fail-fast that allows us to try many different ideas quickly and cheaply. We are basically trying to fail through a set of conversations with clients and prospects, looking for early commitment and excitement. The bar to pass is pretty high, meaning that once we pass it - we’ve got something real and exciting.

Ziv

Founder & CEO

How do your team's ideas influence the company's direction?

Being a part of a relatively small team here at Ekotrope means that each person can make a big impact. Everyone is encouraged to own their work and every idea is heard. While there’s a lot of cross-functionality, most roles are unique and it’s assumed that everyone’s an expert in their respective lanes, promoting a culture of trust and efficiency.

Claire

Client Support Engineer
