Sales and Business Development, Molecular Universe

At SES AI, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $150,000 and $200,000. SES AI considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and skills.

Position Scope

SES AI is seeking a Business Development and Sales leader for the Materials Sciences market to provide scientific software solutions for organizations working to identify, develop and understand new battery materials, and material properties. Building strategic relationships with commercial battery entities, academia, and OEMs to advance new battery materials discovery using advanced computational methods. This candidate will work with a variety of organizations to advance the adoption of atomic-scale modeling, machine learning and enterprise informatics in industries directly or indirectly related to battery storage.

This position will report to our CEO and remote work is an option.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture a pipeline of new business prospects: Identify and cultivate potential clients in the materials science market, negotiating and closing complex sales opportunities to drive growth.
  • Collaborate with scientific and AI teams: Plan and conduct impactful customer presentations, demonstrations, road shows, and special events to showcase innovative solutions and engage clients effectively.
  • Monitor and analyze market dynamics: Continuously assess market opportunities and trends, building and executing strategic marketing and sales plans to capitalize on them.
  • Provide strategic client feedback: Relay valuable insights and feedback from clients to internal teams to enhance product offerings and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Manage and grow key accounts: Oversee and nurture relationships with key clients, ensuring their needs are met and fostering long-term partnerships that contribute to sustained business growth.
  • Travel to engage with clients and prospects: Visit customers and prospects as needed to strengthen relationships, explore new business opportunities, and ensure a strong market presence.

Qualifications

  • A highly successful salesperson who’s familiar with computational chemistry software, research informatics, and/or materials science/chemistry
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related field
  • At least two years of business experience in the scientific software space
  • A customer-focused problem-solver skilled in negotiation, procurement, contract terms, and delivering tailored solutions
  • A driven self-starter, communicator and dynamic presenter.
