This position offers flexible work arrangements:

  • Remote from the U.S., Canada, England, Scotland, or Portugal.
  • Hybrid or Onsite from one of our US offices in Wilmington, MA, or Nashua, NH.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a small, globally distributed team of robotics software engineers.
  • Design and implement path, motion, and trajectory planning algorithms to optimize robot paths and enable precise movement in complex indoor environments.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate planning and control systems.
  • Identify and implement improvements to system architecture to boost performance, robustness, and scalability.
  • Contribute to product roadmapping and technical strategy for future system development.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience developing production software with C++ or other object-oriented languages.
  • 1+ years of hands-on leadership experience as a Team Lead or similar technical role, including mentoring engineers, managing direct reports, and contributing to the codebase and technical direction.
  • 5+ years working on mobile robotics systems (e.g., AMRs, autonomous vehicles).
  • Deep experience in motion planning, trajectory control, and/or optimization.
  • Proficiency developing in Linux
  • Familiarity with ROS and the ROS navigation stack.
  • Experience with distributed robotics systems and scalable architectures.
  • Proven ability to manage high-impact projects in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
