About the company

Our client is a robotics company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Write and ship software that runs robotic systems in live production settings, working across the stack from low-level firmware to cloud services. Partner closely with a small engineering group and support rollouts at customer sites.

What you'll do

- Develop real-time robot control code, motion planning and optimization, and machine learning pipelines across several hardware platforms.

- Build and maintain data labeling tools, perception systems and compilers that support robot behavior.

- Move up and down the stack, from firmware to cloud infrastructure, to address the most pressing technical problems.

- Work side by side with teammates to design and deliver robotic systems.

- Install and tune software at customer facilities so it performs reliably in the field.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- 1 to 3 years of professional experience writing code that controls physical machines, such as robotic arms or other autonomous devices.

- Strong programming fundamentals across several languages, with Python required.

- Hands-on experience with production robotics software, including ROS and supporting infrastructure.

- Broad understanding of the full robotics stack and experience integrating hardware with software.

- Track record of taking products from initial build through to live use.

- Demonstrated ownership of significant technical results.

- Comfort working in a small, fast-paced team where individuals carry a lot of responsibility.

- BS or higher in computer science, robotics or a related engineering field.

- Ability to work on-site full-time.

Bonus points

- Experience with TypeScript and React.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
