Responsible AI Lead - USA (Cambridge, MA)
The Responsible AI Lead - USA is a member of the Responsible AI Office and serves as its representative in the USA. The lead is the first entry point of the Responsible AI (RAI) Office for supporting local businesses and functions on RAI related topics. We are looking for someone who role models the responsible AI principles and is adept at building constructive relationships and facilitating cross-functional understanding.
Your role:
- Provide support, coaching and guidance on Responsible AI topics, including teaming up with local RAI Ambassadors for businesses and functions.
- Contribute to the strategy of the RAI Office and propose, provide input to, and contribute to RAI Office initiatives, such as:
- Disseminate new and updated information from the RAI Office, and bring back to the RAI Office feedback, concerns, questions from the organization on RAI topics.
- Upskilling / AI literacy.
- Promote good machine learning practices (GMLP) in the organization, and team up with local GMLP Ambassadors where needed.
- Monitor Responsible AI & AI governance developments outside Philips, including Responsible AI questions and requirements from Philips customers in the USA and leverage observations and learnings for the RAI Office.
- Represent Philips RAI Office with RAI thought leadership at external events in the USA.
- Monitor AI regulatory developments in the USA on state and federal level, assess impact on RAI practices in Philips, and help translating to Philips compliance requirements.
- Team up with Regulatory Affairs and Government & Public Affairs on providing feedback on proposed bills, plans or requests for input from US government.
You're the right fit if:
- You’ve acquired 5+ years of experience in responsible AI, technology governance/compliance, AI regulatory affairs, or policy analysis. Demonstrated familiarity with AI-related legislation and governance frameworks in the U.S. (e.g., NIST AI RMF, state-level AI bills).
- 2+ years of AI regulatory experience creating successful submission(s) of AI-enabled solutions, or evaluating AI submissions at the regulatory side (FDA) would be a plus.
- Your skills include:
- Ability to translate complex regulatory information into understandable requirements.
- Strong analytical and research abilities.
- You have a Master’s Degree or PhD in a relevant academic field, e.g. Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Law, preferably with a topic related to responsible AI, AI governance or AI ethics.
- Equivalent professional experience (8+ years) in AI governance, policy, or compliance may be considered.
- You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.

How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details
The pay range for this position in Cambridge, MA is $155,400 to $248,640.
The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.

Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position. For this position, you must reside in or within commuting distance to Cambridge, MA.
