About the Opportunity
The Research Assistant (Neuroinformatics) in the Computational Optics and Translational Imaging (COTI) Lab at Northeastern University will support NIH-funded projects focused on advancing neuroimaging research through the development of open-source software and data-sharing platforms. The role involves developing AI-driven neuroimaging data processing, automation, and open-source packages and libraries for sharing these functionalities with the broader research community. This RA will also contribute to web development and database management for the data sharing portal website.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate should have hands-on experience in programming and software development, with proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
A solid foundation in machine learning, large-data processing and software development, including Python, HTML, CSS, and other web frameworks, is essential.
Candidates should have excellent skills in software engineering best practices, including version control, unit testing, source code management, documentation, and CI/CD workflows.
Candidates with prior experience in graphical user interface design, data visualization, and the publication and maintenance of high-quality software projects will be favorably considered.
Good writing and communication skills are desired.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
45%: Develop automated and AI-driven metadata extraction, query, and data processing pipelines and integrate with the web-based interface.
25%: Implement and manage backend systems, including database management, metadata indexing, user query, and uploading new datasets for efficient data storage and retrieval.
20%: Design, develop, and maintain scalable web-based platforms to support large-scale neuroimaging data sharing.10%: Develop documentation, tutorials, and training materials for workshops; contribute to publications.
