Job Description

The Research Assistant will belong to the Chiu laboratory at Harvard Medical School. Neuroimmunology is a growing and exciting field, and our laboratory works at the interface of these complex systems. We aim understanding how neuroimmune communication contributes to pain, tissue inflammation, and cancer.  Under specific direction from the PI and postdoctoral fellows in the lab, the research assistant will carry out experiments in animal models and in tissue culture. The research assistant will also carry important duties to help the lab operate including ordering supplies, genotyping, and animal colony management. 

Working Conditions: Research lab & data analysis.
Physical Requirements: Research Lab.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related discipline.
  • At least one-year related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience).

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Being able to handle multiple tasks and manage time properly.

Additional Information

  • Appointment End Date: This is a term position from the date of hire with an end date of June 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.
  • Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week| Monday - Friday | 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Visa Sponsorship Information: Harvard University is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Work Format Details

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that all duties and responsibilities must be performed at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.

Salary Grade and Ranges
