The Regional Director (RD) will lead a rare disease focused metabolic bone team of experienced UltraCare Liaisons (Commercial Field Sales). Ultragenyx is preparing for the potential commercialization of a potential break though rare disease monoclonal antibody therapy for the treatment of Osteogenesis Imperfecta. We are looking for exceptional candidates with biopharmaceutical field leadership experience in rare disease, metabolic bone disorders or complex therapeutic areas. The candidate establishes a strong collaborative team culture that aligns with Ultragenyx’s values with a proven track record of compliantly and responsibly delivering exceptional results. As part of the metabolic bone therapeutic area team at Ultragenyx, the Regional Director will report to the National Field Director for the Metabolic Bone Therapeutic Area Team.
Territory: California and may have parts of Nevada, Oregon, or Arizona. Preferred location of residence is California.
Work Model:Field: Officially documented as working as a member of the Ultragenyx field team, generally interacting with third parties on behalf of Ultragenyx.
Responsibilities:
- Recruits, hires, develops and retains a talented and diverse Regional Field Team of commercial field rare disease professionals.
- Leads and coaches a Regional Team to set, evaluate and exceed performance expectations compliantly.
- Ensures field team has a high level of clinical acumen, knowledge of reimbursement, access and patient journey of patients with OI.
- Initiates and leads field team meetings on a regular basis to galvanize the team around priorities, plans of action, cascades key communications & builds team spirit.
- Provides regular training updates on FDA label, approved messages and new approved initiatives for field team.
- Develops and ensures strong regional engagement with HCPs. Conducts regular field visits and ride-along with UCLs. RD will complete all required field coaching reports following each field visit. Ensures team stay compliant to expense management, compliance training, & field reporting.
- Understands healthcare trends in the Rare Disease Community and executes approved pull through tactics and solutions to mitigate market access challenges with collaboration with Patient Services, Managed Markets, and Field Reimbursement teams.
- Ability to analyze regional and territory data to develop strategic and actionable compliant business plans for the region.
- Builds outstanding cross functional engagement and collaboration with field partners enabling account access for Ultragenyx teams.
- Ensures the field team works in a compliant manner consistent with the company’s policies and procedures while helping maintain a culture of compliance, integrity, and transparency.
- Drive change through influence and innovation
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree; Minimum of 7 years of experience in leading a team and driving growth businesses
- Experience building high performing teams, with a focus on clinical acumen, compliance, and culture and launch excellence.
- Strong understanding biopharmaceutical sale management
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and drive results
- Ability to manage by influence and work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent skills in the development of business plans, utilization of resources and budget to optimize Region potential
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Rare disease and or metabolic bone experience preferred
- Demonstrates high ethical and performance standards with all business contacts in order to maintain Ultragenyx exceptional reputation within the medical, pharmaceutical and Rare Disease community
- Ability to travel -up to 60-70% as required including overnight travel as needed. #LI-CS1 #LI-Remote
The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
