Who We Are

International Justice Mission (IJM) is the global leader in protecting vulnerable people from violence around the world. Our team of over 1,300 professionals works across more than 30 offices worldwide. Together, we are on a mission to rescue millions, protect half a billion people, and make justice unstoppable.

We are a global community that cares for one another. We believe the way we work is as important as the results we achieve, and we provide professional excellence with joy and celebration to all those we serve.

The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered work to protect vulnerable people from violence. Nine out of nine times in the past decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence by 50–85% for very large populations living in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Recruiter to manage full‑cycle recruiting across a diverse portfolio of roles, partnering closely with hiring managers and HR stakeholders to deliver effective, compliant, and mission‑aligned hiring solutions.

This position is hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) if located in the Washington, DC area or remote for nonlocal candidates. It reports to the Recruiting Manager, US, and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong, consultative partnerships with hiring managers across IJM divisions to align recruitment strategies with organizational needs;

  • Conduct intake meetings with hiring managers to clarify role requirements, recruitment approaches, and evaluation criteria;

  • Leverage advanced sourcing techniques, market research, and professional networks to identify and engage active and passive candidates across diverse talent markets;

  • Review applications, conduct phone screens, and recommend qualified candidates to hiring managers;

  • Manage interview processes to ensure all interviewers conduct meaningful, professional, and fair assessments;

  • Advise hiring managers throughout interviews, debriefs, and offer negotiations to support high‑quality hiring decisions;

  • Partner with hiring managers, HR Business Partners, and Global Talent Acquisition to create competitive offers and present them in a compelling manner;

  • Use data, insights, and talent trends to advise hiring managers and continuously refine recruitment strategies;

  • Ensure recruiting practices comply with Department of Labor requirements, Safer Recruitment standards, and IJM policies throughout the hiring lifecycle;

  • Maintain accurate candidate and hiring data within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and Workday;

  • Coordinate interview scheduling, logistics, assessment documentation, and job posting processes;

  • Support onboarding coordination to ensure a positive transition for new hires;

  • Collaborate with Regional HR, Global Mobility, vendors, and agency partners to support cross‑regional and specialized hiring needs; and

  • Participate in IJM’s community of spiritual formation.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent professional experience;

  • Minimum of five (5) years of full life‑cycle recruiting experience;

  • Demonstrated experience recruiting across early career through executive roles, including niche, specialty, and hard‑to‑fill positions;

  • Advanced sourcing expertise, with a proven ability to identify, engage, and convert passive candidates in hard‑to‑fill talent markets;

  • Experience advising hiring managers on recruitment strategy, interview processes, and offer decisions;

  • Familiarity with employment laws, recruiting compliance requirements, and ethical hiring practices;

  • Experience using ATS and HCM systems, with Workday Recruiting preferred;

  • Ability to manage multiple searches with strong organization, judgment, and attention to detail;

  • Global and regional hiring exposure strongly preferred; and

  • Blend of corporate in‑house and agency recruitment experience strongly preferred.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
