About Blackbird:

Blackbird is an integrated development team comprised of Clinical Development, Operations, Regulatory and Patient Engagement within Raven Venture Capital, part of RA Capital Management.  Blackbird’s mission to transform clinical trial planning and execution, resulting in lower costs and expedited timelines across RA Capital’s portfolio. Blackbird provides companies with strategic, data-driven clinical study design assessments, operational optimizations, and innovative best practices to minimize inefficiencies and prevent the need to “reinvent the wheel” at each portfolio company.

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join Raven’s clinical development and patient engagement team, Blackbird.  You will provide comprehensive support while also tracking key cross-functional projects to enhance efficiency, coordination, and execution across several external relationships with RA Capital’s portfolio companies. This role requires a blend of project management acumen, and resourceful problem-solving skills to ensure seamless operations in a fast-paced environment. The role provides the opportunity to support both the internal team as well as interact with a broad collection of portfolio companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and update project trackers for clinical and cross-functional initiatives using tools like Smartsheet, Notion, or similar platforms.
  • Track project milestones, budgets, and timelines to ensure timely delivery.
  • Create summary reports to communicate key updates, challenges and program status to leadership.
  • Anticipate risks, dependencies, and gaps; collaborate with stakeholders to develop mitigation plans.
  • Contribute to process improvements to enhance communication, documentation, and efficiency across functions.
  • Organize, schedule, and support internal and external meetings — create agendas, gather materials, take notes, and manage follow-up actions.
  • Serve as a liaison between Raven/Blackbird and external partners, ensuring clear, timely communication and follow-up.  Build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Proactively track and coordinate contracts (CDAs, consulting agreements, SOWs, contracts) in partnership with Blackbird leadership — including renewals, progress tracking, and billing resolution.
  • Quality control project deliverables and if needed participate in active engagements with external vendors and portfolio companies.
  • Support management of Blackbird’s success and client tracking metric systems. Improve on current processes as needed to enhance efficiencies for the team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience supporting and/or managing cross-functional projects, ideally within a biotech or life sciences environment. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to work with leadership to inform resourcing decisions and project priorities.
  • Required excellent proficiency in project management tools such as Smartsheet and Notion, or similar other technology platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (GMail, Google Docs)  and collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom).
  • Excellent communication and writing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information and multistakeholder relationships.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities; capable of prioritizing multiple competing demands and knowing when to ask for support.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapting to changing priorities.

The base salary range reflects our good faith estimate at the time of posting. Final compensation will depend on factors like experience, skills, and location. The role may also be eligible for an annual bonus and long-term incentives. Compensation and benefits may be updated in the future.

Salary base range
$90,000$150,000 USD
