As Manager, Quality & EHS, you will lead a team of quality and safety professionals across manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO standards (9001, 13485, 14001, 45001), driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of operational excellence and safety. This role requires strategic oversight of quality systems, EHS programs, and cross-functional collaboration to meet production goals and regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of Quality Assurance and EHS professionals across multiple manufacturing lines.
  • Oversee incoming material inspection, in-process quality control, and final product release to ensure adherence to specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Manage site-wide EHS programs including hazard identification, risk mitigation, incident investigation, and regulatory reporting.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for quality and safety issues, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Lead internal and external audits (ISO and customer) and ensure audit readiness across all manufacturing areas.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality and EHS, and report trends to senior leadership.
  • Champion Novanta Growth System initiatives to reduce waste, improve yield, and enhance product quality.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and occupational health standards, including chemical handling, PPE usage, and emergency response protocols.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by establishing quality plans, validation protocols, and risk assessments.
General Tasks
  • Maintain strict compliance with quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Implement and sustain systems aligned with ISO and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses, risk assessments, and deliver job-specific safety training.
  • Promote environmentally responsible and safe working conditions, including prevention of workplace injuries and environmental incidents.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, EHS, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in quality and EHS roles within a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Deep understanding of ISO standards, FDA regulations, and manufacturing quality systems.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Travel Requirements
  • Less than 10%
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk on the production floor for extended periods

Compensation and Benefits

  • The salary for this role will range from 120,120 to 192,170 annually based on full-time employment. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to location, relevant skills, training, experience, education, etc.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives. Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
