We are seeking a Quality Control Engineer II to join our Information Systems. You will play a pivotal role in applying software testing experience to help ensure the quality and reliability of technology solutions. This role collaborates with established teams to design and execute tests that contribute to the success of energy efficiency initiatives. In this role, you will contribute technical skills to projects that have a measurable impact on energy conservation and sustainability. 

As a Quality Control Engineer II, you will execute and support established test strategies, contributing to their refinement based on testing outcomes and project needs. Additionally, you will ensure the reliability, accuracy, and performance of software and data systems. This is a mid-level role for a detail-oriented tester who enjoys working independently on moderately complex projects, contributing to all phases of the quality assurance process from test planning through release validation. 

This is a hybrid work opportunity. ES has offices in Oakland, CA, Orange, CA, Portland, OR, Chicago, IL, and Boston, MA. 


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, execute, and maintain manual test cases for software features and workflows based on defined requirements and testing frameworks
  • Review requirements and design test cases and scripts for functional, regression, and performance testing 
  • Support development and maintenance of automated test scripts using established frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Pytest) 
  • Support the integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation 
  • Execute manual and automated tests for new features, bug fixes, and system enhancements 
  • Troubleshoot test failures and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues 
  • Document testing processes, failures, and changes to support traceability and continuous improvement 
  • Log, track, and manage defects through the lifecycle using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps 
  • Write SQL queries to test data transformation and ensure cross-system consistency 
  • Support testing of integrations, APIs, and cloud-based applications 
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) activities as needed 
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional Energy Solutions team members to support software improvements through increased application knowledge 
  • Partner with team members to understand, test, and evaluate web-based energy efficiency products 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent technical experience 
  • 3 years of experience testing software products in a professional setting 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Demonstrated interest in exploring, adopting, and implementing new tools and technologies is preferred
  • Programming or test automation experience a plus (Python preferred) 

 


The salary range for this role is $80,000–$110,000, with a target compensation of $80,000 - $93,500 based on experience and qualifications.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package. Energy Solutions provides an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, other pre-tax contribution plans and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

Office Locations and a Remote Workforce

Energy Solutions operates as a predominantly remote workforce with offices in  six different locations. Employees who reside within 40 miles of an office (except New York) will be assigned to that location, though in-office attendance requirements may vary by team.
