The opportunity:

As QA Lead you will ensure the highest level of quality of Harvard Business Publishing applications, working with the cross-functional team in verifying that the product meets the business requirements. This position reports to the Director of QA.

What you'll do

  • Be part of the Agile team and be a partner with Product Owners understanding the business goals, the users’ expectations, the business requirements

  • Work closely with the Developers, in understanding the technology, the application architecture and integration with third-part software

  • Work closely with the Project Managers in estimating test efforts, in monitoring test progress, establishing quality gates and in advocating quality goals

  • Lead the test execution during all phases of the SDLC, write test plans, test cases, report bugs, execute tests and develop QA dashboard with test metrics

  • Supervise off-shore QA Engineers

  • Design and execute a test automation strategy

What you'll bring

  • 7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, with a strong foundation in creating and executing test plans, test cases, test data, and traceability matrices

  • 4+ years of experience leading QA efforts or test initiatives, including ownership of testing strategy and delivery across projects

  • Demonstrated experience managing the defect lifecycle, including logging, triaging, prioritizing, tracking, and validating resolution of defects

  • Hands-on experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with the ability to adapt to iterative development cycles

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with distributed/remote teams across multiple time zones

  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or guiding QA engineers, supporting team development and quality standards

  • Strong expertise in functional, regression, and end-to-end testing, across both manual and automated frameworks

  • Experience testing multi-tier web applications, including front-end, back-end services, and database validation

  • Solid understanding of test automation tools and frameworks

Technical Skills and Expertise

  • HTML, CSS, Web browsers

  • Database and SQL language

  • API testing using tools such as RestAssured or Postman

  • Test Management and Bug tracking tools

  • Selenium/Java, Jenkins or other CI/CD tools

  • Understanding of software architecture, network layer, CPU utilization

While this role is open to qualified candidates, individuals based in the Boston area will be prioritized due to onsite collaboration needs. This position follows a hybrid schedule, with an expectation to work onsite once per week on Wednesdays. The anticipated compensation range for this role is $100,000 - $110,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.

Above is the annualized pay range for this position. In addition, this position includes the opportunity to earn our annual Performance Based Variable Pay Program. Actual salary will be set based upon a range of factors, including external benchmark market data, individual knowledge, skills, experience, location and internal equity.
