JOB DESCRIPTION

The Purion Platform Product Manager is responsible for aligning the strategy, roadmap, and field communications for Axcelis’ single-wafer platform solutions. This role collaborates closely with leaders in development, marketing, sales, and operations to ensure alignment between internal objectives and market demands.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Roadmap: Develop and maintain the Purion platform roadmap and strategy across each of our major platform modules – including Software, Near Wafer Environment, wafer handling, Ion sources, and controls. Effectively managing these roadmaps will require balancing the needs of individual product lines and market segments with the desire for a unified look, feel and operation across all products.

  • Commonality: Develop, communicate, and provide accountability across product lines and internal functions driving towards a smart commonality strategy. This includes the commonality of our software features, the commonality of spares and consumables, the commonality of operation and documentation and product bill of materials.

  • Platform Lifecycle Management: Work closely with the product development and aftermarket teams on development of creative packages and marketing collateral for upgrading our worldwide install base to modern, supportable configurations. This includes clear communication to the field of current, obsolete, and discontinued configurations.

  • Customer Facing Software Collateral: Lead improvements in how we communicate and sell major software enhancements to our install base. This could include developing marketing collateral around each software release, long-term software strategy, and example use cases which highlight the value of new capabilities.

  • Sponsor Platform Architectural Changes: Major market inflections could require platform software and hardware capability inflections. Assure that we are ahead of the curve with major architectural changes to drive capability, performance, efficiency, and wafer safety.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical and systems engineering within semiconductor capital equipment or related industries.

  • Deep understanding of wafer handling, wafer process technologies, RF plasma technologies, fab automation, and related subsystems.

  • Experience with platform architecture development and product lifecycle management.

Business & Customer Engagement:

  • Strong background in customer interaction and market anticipation, ensuring platform evolution meets industry needs.

  • Proven ability to influence global teams and communicate complex roadmaps effectively.

  • MBA or Advanced Technical Management degree preferred.
     

Additional Requirements:

  • Work-hour flexibility to accommodate global teams (early morning/evening meetings as needed).

  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE

$116,376.80 - $212,266.80

This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.

Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on

multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work

location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as

you develop within the role.

Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the

Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular

employees working 20+ hours a week).
