Senior Manager, Global Testing Program

The Toast Enterprise Risk and Compliance Management Program provides a coordinated, company-wide approach to identify, measure, monitor, mitigate and treat risks, while enabling the business to innovate and deliver quality products and solutions to serve our customers.
Toast, Inc. seeks a Sr. Manager to implement an enhanced global testing program framework for the monitoring and evaluation of controls.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Design and implement an annual testing plan based on Toast’s top risks (including compliance with applicable laws and regulations). Oversee the completion of the annual testing plan.
- Develop and maintain the testing policy, procedures, and protocols to monitor and evaluate the design and effectiveness of controls.
- Define testing approach and methodology, including scope, frequency of testing required, sampling, rating, action plans required, and final reports. Establish testing work papers/documentation requirements. Create templates as appropriate to support standardization of documentation and testing processes.
- Partner with the businesses (first line) and internal audit to ensure there is appropriate collective testing coverage for controls.
- Review and challenge first line monitoring and testing results.
- Investigate and identify major issues and themes across testing results and provide to the Chief Compliance Officer, committees, and other governing bodies.
- Ensure deficiencies/issues identified through testing are logged and tracked per enterprise issue management requirements and monitor resolution/remediation in accordance with the agreed upon dates defined in the action plans (in the testing reports). Escalate concerns regarding timely resolution/remediation to the Chief Compliance Officer, committees, and other governing bodies.
- Liaise with the Enterprise Risk and Compliance Program team to ensure testing results are incorporated into other risk management processes, such as the enterprise risk assessment.
- Ensure changes (process, control, product) as a result of the action plans are captured in the enterprise process and control inventories.
- Implement technology and tools to centrally house testing work papers/documentation and to automate testing, where possible.
- Define control eligibility and criteria for automated testing.
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in a risk, compliance, or audit role at a technology (FinTech preferred) company.
- Strong knowledge and experience in controls testing.
- Familiarity with laws and regulations related to payments, payroll, credit, consumer, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret complex regulatory language.
- Experience with regulators and a strong understanding of regulatory expectations.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Leader with ability to communicate, build strong relationships, and drive action with business leaders.
- Detail oriented with the ability to meet firm deadlines.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) preferred but not required.
