Job Description

THE TEAM:

The Data Science & Advanced Analytics team builds capabilities around business model exploration, process refinement and evolution, predictive analytics, and connecting the enterprise via APIs. We do this with product-based work in small, high caliber teams.  The team is comprised of a combination of data scientists, data engineers, data analytics consultants, and product managers. Culturally, we look for individuals with a strong inclination for learning and from a variety of backgrounds that challenge each other openly, regardless of level or role on the team. THE JOB:

The MassMutual Data Science & Advanced Analytics Team in the Customer Experience Organization is seeking an outstanding Project Manager. This individual will help deliver innovative, data-driven products and enhancements aimed at transforming the insurance industry. The Project Manager will be expected to focus on meeting the needs of both external and internal customers, working closely with data engineers, business analysts and other functional managers to successfully drive projects and process execution. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing all facets of agile project delivery. In addition, the Project Manager will take on broader responsibilities, such as providing input to roadmaps for capacity planning or assisting in consolidating and prioritizing requirements from various groups. You must possess a solid understanding of Agile methodology and associated tools. The expectation of the Product Manager includes adept at problem solving, effectively communicating, and having structured thinking.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

?Lead broad scope projects that have medium to long-term focus of varying duration, size, and complexity

?Serve as a conduit of knowledge between functional and technical teams, engaging with all levels across the enterprise, connecting needs to capabilities and setting expectations

?Navigate ambiguity to deliver results

?Elicit, translate and simplify requirements

?Document and organize acceptance criteria for user stories

?Manage budget, timeline, resources and scope through prioritization throughout the course of all assigned projects

?Lead project teams during all phases of the development life cycle including requirements gathering and analysis, design, build, pilot, implementation and continuous service

?Facilitate client and project team interactions including: scrums, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, sprint reviews, incident management and release management

?Be self-supportive in collaborating with peers to effectively deliver a robust solution for the business

?Drive lessons learned and knowledge retention for future use

?Remove blockers/barriers to enable project team to complete objectives no matter how difficult; drive and influence decisions

? Motivate teams to work together, communicate, and deliver by developing a high performing team, setting positive tone and leading by example

?Demonstrate proven capability to be disciplined and flexible at the same time

WHAT YOU NEED:

?Bachelor?s Degree (Master?s Degree Preferred), preferably in Business, Project Management or an analytical field such as Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science

?3+ years managing and driving the execution of complex, cross functional, strategic based project experience

?Excellent interpersonal communication, conflict management, coordination, and planning skills with cross functional teams

?Skilled in applying judgment to balance process compliance with achievement of business objectives

?Strong organizational skills and detail oriented

?Ability to assess a project's scope and the team's ability to execute

?Outcome oriented with the ability to drill down from the big picture to process details

?Outstanding communication skills, including handling executive communication

?Strong leadership skills and ability to influence others

?Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and organizations

?Proficient with project management tools and techniques, such as Jira, Confluence, Scrum and Kanban

?Agile certification or experience

?Experience leading cross functional product/ project teams to execute and achieve success on complex, high value deliverables

?Former technical experience is preferred, such as working with data engineering/science/analytics teams or experience developing and/or deploying
