Investment Project Manager
The Program Management Office for Investments (PMOfI) is defining and executing how Investment Management should operate across project and program management in order to help execute the department goals and objectives. The Investment Project Manager will work report to the Investment Program Management Lead and will be responsible for the planning, day-to-day execution, management, implementation and reporting of medium to large projects.
The Investment Project Manager will be accountable to manage and monitor project tasks and controls during project planning and delivery activities to ensure on-time and quality goals are met within scope and budget. Work independently and apply advanced project and program management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, communications and presentations in order to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations.
In addition to demonstrating solid business project management skills, the project manager must have a general background or experience with the investments domain and must be able to understand the needs of the stakeholders across the front, middle and back office to ensure that solutions are aligned to the business needs. This individual will be driving projects through the project life cycle and working with other project managers in PMOfI to help define and reinforce investment management project standards.
High Level Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and maintaining project plan, project budget and project communication tools
- Responsible for leading small to medium sized projects and/or programs
- Perform analysis of business process, procedures, data and rules to help identify programs/projects
- Accountable for meeting all business requirements from development through implementation
- Accountable for identifying and resolving possible risks and developing/monitoring risk plans
- Partner with outside experts and internal stakeholders to manage requirement planning
- Maintain a matrix reporting relationship with the business sponsor of the program/project and the program manager
- Identify and drive key stakeholder involvement and work with them to elicit scope
- Secure and maintain project resources from a business and technical scope
- Identify, document, assign, track and facilitate project issues through to resolution
- Confirm achievement of objectives, verify and document project results to formalize acceptance of the product at each phase gate of the project by the
- Facilitate lessons learned and retain information in a central location for future use
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related fields is required
- At least 6 years of progressive project management experience in a financial services organization
- Experience working in agile transformations, with experience around specific issues that arise with agile in functions including Investment Operations and beyond (e.g. IT, Finance, Risk, Legal) and / or scaling agile across the broader enterprise
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of project management experience working at the intersection of investment management and technology, with a focus on front, middle and back office operations and data management
- MBA and or CFA designation
- Previous big four management consulting experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to partner with investment/business personnel to advance projects
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and drive business and systems subject matter experts, based on both investment and technology domain knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to understand how tasks and milestones collaborate and connect together across related projects
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written methods to all levels of an organization
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient experience with Project Management tools including but not limited to: Atlassian Jira, Zephyr for Jira, Smartsheets as well as MS Office Suite (Project, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
- Certified in Scrum Alliance (CSM/CSPO), Scrum.org (PSM/PSPO/PSD), SAFe Scaled Agilist, PMI-ACP, PMP is desired but not required
