Senior Director, Portfolio Program Management & Optimization

Boulder, CO; Burlington, MA; Santa Clara, CA; New York/Islandia, NY

CA Technologies provides IT management solutions that help customers manage and secure complex IT environments to support agile business services. Organizations of all sizes leverage CA Technologies software and SaaS solutions to accelerate innovation, transform infrastructure and secure data and identities, from the data center to the cloud.  The Chief Product Officer’s organization specializes in IT management software to manage cloud-based applications, secure software applications, and seamlessly develop and operate any type of software application from mobile to mainframe.

At the highest level, the CPO Product Operations team will have two primary objectives:

  1. Deliver a business context-driven management system across CPO – providing line-of-sight between key activities, operational KPIs and financial results
  2. Provide the proactive support and transparency required to enable the CPO organization (and the Business Units that comprise it) to build products that matter and to realize longer-term strategic objectives

As a senior director in the Chief Product Officer (CPO) organization and within the Product Operations Team, you will be responsible for directly supporting the Product Operations and the Chief Product Officer.  This position will partner directly with General Managers and their staff of Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and Product Managers to drive operational visibility and consistency and cleanly connect operational performance to business outcomes and financial results.

The senior director of Portfolio Program Management would ultimately be responsible to own, evolve, and provide visibility into the status of a core CPO operational process or set of activities.  Those core operational processes may include:

  • New product incubation, development and introduction
  • Agile engineering execution
  • Quality management
  • Go-to-market readiness, alignment and traction
  • Cross-CPO key performance indicators and metrics
  • Portfolio management and strategy execution

Some of the daily and weekly activities and responsibilities may include:

  • Drive process excellence and continuous improvement in core CPO operational activities – across Business Units and product teams
  • Be accountable for the success or failure of the core CPO operational process
  • Provide continuous visibility into the performance of the process through consistently tracked KPIs, offering action-oriented recommendations to improve process performance and course correct as required
  • Ensure cross-functional and cross BU alignment on the execution of the focused processes/activities
  • Inject industry best practices and principles into CA’s modern enterprise software factory
  • Continuously shine a light on what’s important and communicate this information to the CPO management team and the broader organization
  • Lead and participate in critical cross-functional initiatives designed to drive growth or increase velocity and efficiency for the CPO and CA overall in 2018 and beyond
  • Minimize unplanned, execution-related issues; free up leadership to focus on high-profile business initiatives and long-term strategic direction

This team is a small, but very dynamic and influential group that will be regularly interfacing with both the Chief Product Officer and the EVP of Global Operations and Information Technology and all of their direct reports.  The work the team will be doing will be far-reaching, while at the same time operationally grounded and focused on tangible, pragmatic results for CA Technologies.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the continuous improvement of core CPO operational process and related activities
  • Stay abreast of and share industry/technology trends relevant to the discipline
  • Collaborate in the identification, implementation and adoption of new tools, practices, and procedures
  • Own and facilitate regular briefings with the CPO and Operations leadership team to ensure awareness and alignment
  • Manage daily/weekly priorities and activities with key cross-functional leaders and direct CPO staff to maximize the effectiveness and impact of regular briefings and status reports
  • Identify operational obstacles and challenges within the organization and marshal resources and support to course correct
  • Provide targeted project management and ad hoc business analysis support to General Managers and their teams, as required
