DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Information Technology department provides strategic direction and day-to-day IT operational, software and emerging technology supporting the Red Sox, Fenway Sports Management, the Red Sox Foundation, and FSG Real Estate. Responsibilities include support for corporate and ballpark infrastructure, systems architecture, networks, computer and auxiliary operations, desktop support, data and cyber security, and broadcast cabling and related infrastructure. Provides applications development and support for corporate systems, MLB Ballpark and fan engagement apps, and systems and data architecture.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Project Manager (PM) is a detail-oriented leader with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of effectively managing and delivering a portfolio of IT projects. The PM will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with organizational objectives. This role will require collaboration with operations, cybersecurity, customer support, and software development teams, fostering transparency and efficiency, and adapting strategies to align with the culture at the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Sports Management.

The PM will also lead a part-time Data/Business Analyst and together they help oversee portions of the IT administrative functions, including elements of vendor management, data integrity,  business analysis, testing, and documentation. This individual will interface with all levels of the IT organization, work closely with cross-departmental stakeholders, and maintain robust project governance to drive success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Provide effective communication with stakeholders, including regular updates on project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive IT portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and resource availability.
  • Work with all levels within the organization on their technology requirements in collaboration with appropriate IT teams.
  • Partner with technical subject matter experts to mentor them on project management disciplines and best practices.
  • Collaborate with operational teams and software development group to ensure seamless integration of technical solutions.
  • Play a key role together with the Data/Business Analyst in ensuring data quality and integrity of key IT systems and services, particularly as it pertains to the onboarding and offboarding of employee-related data. 
  • Partner with other cybersecurity and legal personnel to ensure the integrity of key vendor content and contract meta data to ensure effective vendor management.
  • Test internal and third-party software to identify defects and ensure high-quality deployments.
  • Partner with technical teams to ensure quality documentation for new releases, release notes, and training material, when appropriate.

CHARACTERISTICS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience managing complex IT projects and portfolios with a track record of on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office and related tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Scrum, or similar frameworks).
  • Exposure to and comfort with third-party software and light application administration.
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Salesforce CRM, Asana, a plus
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prioritize work, effectively communicate risks, and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams and ensure alignment across departments.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of employees.
