Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a talented Project Engineer - Traffic to join our team full-time in support of major transportation opportunities in the Tennessee market. In this role, you will contribute to the pursuit and delivery of large, transformative infrastructure programs that are advancing mobility, safety, and reliability for communities across Tennessee.
This position offers the opportunity to support complex transportation projects with construction values exceeding $1 billion, while working alongside Parsons teams engaged on some of the most significant design-build and alternative delivery programs in the country. While the primary focus of this role is supporting work in Tennessee, the selected candidate will also be connected to Parsons’ broader national transportation practice and have the opportunity to collaborate across regional and national teams. This position is based on a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility in work location while maintaining close coordination with project teams.
What You'll Be Doing:
Oversee the delivery of traffic signal design, signal timing, signing, striping, lighting and traffic control plans.
Supervising analysis, design and implementation of projects such as corridor studies, traffic impact studies, alternative intersection design, and traffic operational analysis.
Provide support for other engineering activities as required and supervising one or more subordinates, providing input regarding performance.
Serve as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on an intermediate to large-scale project.
Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
Take part in Parsons’ quality management plan to implement QA/QC procedures
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field).
10+ years of progressive experience in traffic/transportation engineering.
PE Registration is required
Experience supporting TDOT is required
High level of proficiency with the methodologies of Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and Signal Warrant studies
Expertise in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with traffic engineering is required
What Preferred Skills You’ll Bring
Knowledge of roadway lighting and Intelligent Transportation Systems design is also highly desirable but not required.
PTOE certification is preferred
Microstation or AutoCAD proficiency is preferred
Experience in various types of engineering projects (Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, Progressive Design-Build, etc.) is desired
SYCHRO, HCS, VISSIM and SIDRA combination of expertise is preferred.
