About the Role
Agency Distribution Solutions (ADS) is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Product Owner I / Product Owner II to help deliver innovative digital products and platform capabilities that power Comparion Insurance Agency and Liberty Mutual Insurance Agency (LMIA). This role will partner closely with a Product Owner III and support multiple Agile teams and products, including strategic platform enablers, data feed integrations, and comparative rating capabilities that help agents serve customers more effectively and efficiently.
As a member of an Agile team, the Product Owner represents the voice of the customer and the business through the delivery of measurable value. This role works closely with business and technology stakeholders to define, prioritize, and deliver capabilities that align customer needs, business objectives, and technology strategy. The Product Owner has a deep understanding of customer problems, translates them into actionable product requirements, and ensures Agile teams remain focused on delivering the highest-value outcomes.

What You'll Do
Product Strategy & Vision
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create and refine product vision and ensure alignment with strategic business priorities.
  • Contribute to the development of portfolio vision and communicate product and portfolio objectives to Agile teams and partners across the organization.
  • Support innovation and modernization initiatives that enhance agent, customer, and operational experiences across Comparion and LMIA.
  • Partner with senior Product Owners to identify opportunities that drive business value and improve customer outcomes.

Product Ownership & Backlog Management
  • Own and maintain the product backlog for assigned capabilities, features, and enhancements.
  • Develop clear, actionable user stories with defined acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize backlog items based on customer needs, business value, technical dependencies, and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure requirements are well understood and delivery teams are equipped to execute effectively.
  • Serve as a key decision-maker for backlog priorities and scope within assigned products.

Agile Team Leadership
  • Participate in all Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, retrospectives, and quarterly planning.
  • Work daily with the Agile team to clarify business requirements, answer questions, and remove roadblocks.
  • Maintain alignment between business priorities and development efforts.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, architects, and product partners across portfolios to ensure successful delivery.
  • Contribute to achieving product-level KPIs and business outcomes.

Stakeholder Partnership & Communication
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across business and technology organizations.
  • Set expectations regarding delivery timelines, product enhancements, and feature releases.
  • Communicate anticipated value delivery and evolving priorities throughout each sprint and planning cycle.
  • Collaborate with leadership, product peers, and Agile teams to resolve issues and drive decisions efficiently.
  • Ensure stakeholders understand how the squad contributes to broader portfolio goals and strategic priorities.

Product Health & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor product performance, health, and adoption to support long-term viability and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze feasibility, business value, cost of delay, risks, and tradeoffs associated with proposed changes.
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term product health and sustainability.
  • Support ongoing product improvements through data analysis, customer feedback, and performance metrics.

Roadmap & Planning
  • Collaboratively build and maintain product roadmaps aligned to business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Contribute to portfolio planning and quarterly prioritization activities.
  • Influence roadmap decisions by incorporating customer feedback, business goals, technology opportunities, and market insights.
  • Communicate roadmap priorities and expected value delivery across stakeholders and teams.
  • Customer Experience & Market Awareness
  • Participate in customer-driven design activities and usability testing efforts.
  • Help validate product solutions through customer feedback and research.
  • Develop an understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive offerings.
  • Contribute to ensuring products remain well-positioned to meet evolving customer and business needs.

Regulatory & Compliance Awareness
  • Understand regulatory, compliance, security, and operational requirements that impact products and prioritization decisions.
  • Partner with business and technology teams to ensure solutions meet applicable standards and organizational requirements.
  • Support resolution of dependencies and priority alignment across internal and external teams.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, Business Analysis, Project Delivery, or a related field.
  • Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or iterative delivery environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear product requirements and user stories.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across business and technology teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in insurance, agency distribution, sales platforms, or financial services.
  • Knowledge of comparative rating solutions, agency management platforms, CRM tools, or digital customer experiences.
  • Familiarity with data integrations, APIs, reporting solutions, or platform-based products.
  • Experience using Agile product management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Exposure to customer journey mapping, user experience design, or customer-centered product development practices.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management as typically acquired through a Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, humanities etc.) and a minimum of 3 to 5 years direct experience with agile teams as well as 7 years in business, technology, or consulting.
  • Able to depict and explain the importance of complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; educate SBU/department(s) on business vision and plan and the impact of change.
  • Able to influence a diverse group of stakeholders; strong leadership skills.
  • Able to make difficult and quick decisions daily.
  • Strong problem solver with demonstrated ability to lead a team to push the solutions and progress.
  • Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio preferred.
  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amongst uncertainty.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
