Product Marketing Manager - epocrates

We are looking for a Product Marketing Manager to join the Marketing team within our epocrates division. In this role, the Product Marketing Manager will own the go-to-market strategy, positioning, and canonical product narratives for the full epocrates commercial portfolio across membership and advertising. This individual will define how we articulate what we sell and why it matters, ensuring clinical credibility and commercial value are articulated clearly and consistently.

The Team: epocrates, Inc., an athenahealth company, is recognized for developing the #1 medical application among U.S. physicians for clinical content, practice tools, and health industry engagement at the point of care. epocrates has established a loyal network of more than one million health care professionals, including 50 percent of U.S. physicians, who routinely use its intuitive solutions to help streamline workflow and improve patient care. More than 1 million healthcare providers rely on epocrates and there are significant investments being made in product technology and innovation, and this year is a fantastic opportunity for marketing to re-energize the brand for customers, users and prospects. Job Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end go-to-market strategy for all epocrates offerings, ensuring alignment with clinical and commercial audience needs.

  • Define positioning, differentiation, and value propositions across clinician and commercial audiences to drive adoption and engagement.

  • Develop and maintain messaging architecture and narratives that resonate with healthcare professionals and media buyers alike.

  • Lead product communications, including clinician- and client-facing releases, updates, and key announcements.

  • Create commercial sales frameworks and approved narratives, providing commercial guidance to support sales and agency partnerships throughout the sales and RFP lifecycle.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Sales, Ad Ops, and Strategy teams to ensure market and audience alignment across initiatives.

  • Lead clinician and client advisory groups, synthesizing insights to inform product strategy and marketing initiatives.

Typical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Business, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in product marketing, marketing strategy, or a related role.

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, healthcare technology, ad tech, media, or platforms serving professional audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex product capabilities into clear, compelling market narratives.

  • Strong understanding of go-to-market strategy, positioning, and launch execution.

  • Comfort working across clinical, technical, and commercial stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with healthcare providers, clinical workflows, or medical education.

  • Exposure to advertising products, media buying concepts, or sponsorship models.

  • Experience running advisory councils or customer research programs.

  • Familiarity with pricing, packaging, or monetization strategy.


Expected Compensation

$105,000 - $179,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.  Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
