FourKites is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Product Manager to join our dynamic team, focusing specifically on our Ocean Visibility solution. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of real-time visibility and execution capabilities for ocean freight transportation. You will work closely with our existing customer base to understand their evolving needs, drive enhancements to our current offerings, and spearhead the development and launch of innovative new features related to ocean freight visibility, booking automation, customs clearance, and container tracking.
This position requires a deep understanding of the supply chain domain, particularly ocean freight operations from a carrier, freight forwarder or 3PL perspective. You will need a hands-on, technical approach to problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, and strong familiarity with product development tools. As this role serves our global customer base while being based in India, you will collaborate effectively across time zones with US-based teams and global customers.
What you'll be doing:Product Strategy & Roadmap: Define and articulate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Ocean Visibility solution, aligning with company goals and market opportunities in ocean freight visibility, booking execution, customs clearance, and container management.
Customer Engagement: Actively engage with existing customers to gather feedback, understand pain points specific to ocean freight operations, and identify opportunities for solution enhancement and new feature development across the end-to-end ocean freight journey.
Feature Development & Enhancement: Translate customer needs and market requirements into detailed product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Work closely with engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle to deliver features related to carrier integrations, booking workflows, customs documentation, container tracking, and detention/demurrage management.
New Product/SKU Launch: Lead the end-to-end launch of new products and SKUs related to ocean freight execution and visibility, including market analysis, competitive positioning, go-to-market strategy, and internal enablement.
Market & Competitive Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, emerging technologies in ocean freight digitization (including booking platforms, customs automation, and container tracking), and competitive threats, informing product decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with engineering, design, sales, marketing, implementation and customer success teams across global time zones to ensure successful product delivery and adoption. Partner with Sales and Strategic Directors to support enterprise customer engagements and close opportunities.
Technical Acumen: Dive deep into technical details, understand system architecture related to ocean freight data flows, EDI integrations, carrier APIs, and customs systems. Engage in technical discussions with engineering to ensure feasible and scalable solutions.
Tool Proficiency: Utilize product and engineering tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to manage backlogs, track progress, and communicate effectively across teams and time zones.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analysis to identify product improvement opportunities, measure feature adoption, analyze customer usage patterns, and demonstrate value delivered through ocean visibility solutions.
Who you are:Required:
- Proven domain expertise in ocean freight and logistics, specifically within ocean transportation, freight forwarding, or 3PL operations
- 5+ years of product management experience, with a strong focus on B2B SaaS products
- Deep understanding of ocean freight execution processes including booking, documentation, customs clearance, container tracking, and freight audit from an operational delivery perspective
- Demonstrated ability to work hands-on and delve into technical details with engineering teams
- Strong understanding and practical experience with agile development methodologies and tools like Jira
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences
- Action-oriented mindset with ability to identify and seize strategic opportunities quickly
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyze risks, benefits and opportunities of various solutions
- Based in India, with availability to collaborate effectively with US time zones and global offshore teams
Preferred:
- Prior experience working directly for a freight forwarder or 3PL provider in ocean freight operations, logistics technology, or service delivery roles
- Experience with real-time visibility platforms or ocean freight technology solutions (e.g., booking platforms, container tracking systems, customs automation tools)
- Hands-on experience managing ocean freight operations including carrier relationships, booking execution, customs brokerage, or documentation workflows
- Familiarity with ocean freight industry standards, carrier APIs, EDI transactions, and customs regulations
- Experience with terminal operations, container yard management, or intermodal transportation coordination
- Background working with shipper customers (e.g., manufacturers, retailers, distributors) in a consultative or service delivery capacity
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
