Operating with significant autonomy, the role partners closely with the Director, Financial Systems and collaborates across finance operations, accounting, revenue, AR, FP&A, and technology teams to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver impactful system enhancements. The role requires advanced knowledge of financial systems and a broad understanding of finance operations disciplines including revenue recognition, billing, AR, and GL. The Product Manager serves as the expert resource on financial systems product capabilities and is the go-to partner for resolving moderate-to-complex systems issues. The role leads multiple concurrent product initiatives, influences product decisions, and communicates outcomes clearly to cross-functional audiences including finance leadership. The Product Manager supports the Director in driving the financial systems strategy aligned to firm-wide finance goals.

Job Description:

Product Strategy and Roadmap

  • Own and manage the financial systems product roadmap, aligning priorities to the needs of Finance operations teams (Revenue, AR, GL, FP&A) and broader firm goals.
  • Partner with the Director, Financial Systems to define and evolve the multi-year systems strategy; translate strategic objectives into actionable roadmap items and delivery milestones.
  • Conduct ongoing discovery with finance stakeholders to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities for system enhancement or automation.
  • Evaluate build-vs-buy decisions and present recommendations to the Director and finance leadership, supported by data and business case analysis.
  • Stay current on financial systems technology trends (ERP modernization, automation, AI-enabled finance tools); recommend relevant innovations to the Director.

Product Delivery and Execution

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of financial systems initiatives, from requirements gathering and user story development through testing, deployment, and post-launch review.
  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog across multiple concurrent workstreams; partner with technology teams to plan sprints and releases aligned to finance operational calendars.
  • Oversee the configuration, enhancement, and optimization of Oracle ERP modules supporting contracts, projects, billing events, revenue events, and related financial workflows.
  • Ensure system changes meet quality, compliance, and audit standards; maintain thorough documentation of requirements, decisions, and configurations.
  • Manage vendor relationships and technology partners; serve as the primary business contact for system implementations, upgrades, and support escalations.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Change Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Finance operations teams and technology; translate complex business needs into clear system requirements and communicate technical outcomes in accessible terms.
  • Represent the Financial Systems team in cross-functional meetings and working groups; build and maintain strategic relationships with peers and leaders across Finance, Accounting, FP&A, and Technology.
  • Lead change management efforts for system rollouts, including stakeholder communication, training coordination, and adoption tracking.
  • Communicate product performance, initiative status, and system risks clearly to the Director, finance leadership, and other stakeholders; adapt messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Support the Director in preparing materials for senior finance leadership, including the Controller and CFO, as needed.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Mentor junior analysts or business analysts supporting financial systems initiatives; provide guidance, share expertise, and create development opportunities.
  • Act as the expert resource for the team on financial systems capabilities, product management practices, and Oracle ERP functionality.
  • Serve as a leader in managing cross-functional team dynamics and resolving conflicts constructively to keep initiatives on track.
  • Contribute to workforce planning and team capability development in partnership with the Director.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field required; advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPA, PMP, CSPO) preferred.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in product management, financial systems, or finance operations in a professional services or investment management environment, including demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle ERP (Fusion or equivalent), including modules supporting contracts, billing, revenue recognition, and project accounting; experience with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Aha!); proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis; familiarity with finance automation or analytics tools a plus.
  • Strong understanding of accrual-based revenue recognition, billing operations, AR, and GL accounting; ability to translate finance business requirements into system specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional project teams, mentor junior staff, and influence without formal authority; experience managing vendor relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex systems information clearly to diverse audiences including finance leadership; skilled at adapting communication style across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data and business context to resolve moderate-to-complex systems issues autonomously; applies sound judgment and experience to ambiguous situations; escalates appropriately to the Director.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive financial data, client information, and system configurations with professionalism and confidentiality.
