Who We Are [Orchestration and Planning Tech]

The Optimization team within the Orchestration and Planning Tech (OPT) STO is responsible for selecting the optimal fulfillment plan throughout the customer purchase journey at Wayfair. This involves designing algorithms and building scalable systems that select the fulfillment plan and optimize orders as they move through the fulfillment process to ensure the best possible customer outcomes.

Within Optimization, the Plan Outputs team plays a critical role as the interface between Supply Chain Technology and external consumers of the fulfillment plan. Once a fulfillment plan is selected, the Plan Outputs team ensures that this information is accurately and efficiently communicated to teams within and outside of Supply Chain Tech — including Storefront, Browse, and third-party partners like Google.

By enabling real-time fulfillment plan communication across these systems, the Plan Outputs team ensures that customers receive clear, reliable delivery expectations throughout their shopping journey, directly influencing trust, conversion, and satisfaction.

What You’ll Do

  • Fulfillment Plan Communication: Act as the key bridge between Fulfillment Optimization and customer-facing teams to ensure fulfillment selection decisions (e.g., shipping dates, delivery promises) are accurately and clearly represented to consumers.
  • Cross-System Alignment: Aligning fulfillment inputs with pricing and inventory management systems to drive better cost optimization and ensure consistent business logic across platforms.
  • Formalizing Fulfillability Criteria: Defining clear criteria for when products are considered fulfillable or unfulfillable to improve product findability and maintain customer trust.
  • Leading Cross-Functional Initiatives: Acting as the primary product lead for major, time-sensitive programs affecting the Wayfair’s customer journey and Delivery Experience.

What You’ll Need

  • 5 + years building products or infrastructure at scale from concept to launch and beyond.
  • Cross-functional product leadership
  • Understanding of supply chain, fulfillment, and logistics processes.
  • Able to understand and map dependencies across tech and supply chain systems.
  • Ability to define product roadmaps, prioritize features, and manage the product lifecycle.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with e-commerce and customer facing products
  • Deep understanding of how delivery speed, reliability, and promises impact customer behavior (conversion, NPS).
  • Ability to balance customer-centric goals with operational and cost considerations.
