This role owns and drives the product roadmap across all phases of the product lifecycle, defining and prioritizing what will be built and why. The Product Manager II leads direct customer discovery and user research, translates customer, market, industry, and product-health insights into product decisions, establishes measurable outcomes, and oversees roadmap execution over time.

The Product Manager II serves as a product and solution subject-matter expert and mentors other team members developing product management capabilities.

Responsibilities

Product Vision, Outcomes, and Roadmap

  • Define and maintain the Product Excellence vision for the assigned product, solution, or capability.
  • Own and maintain an 18-month product roadmap aligned to customer and business outcomes, target segments, and the product’s portfolio role. Include major investments, features, and releases.
  • Determine roadmap priorities based on direct customer discovery, product-health data, strategic direction, technical considerations, and capacity; establish measurable success criteria and use results to inform future decisions.
  • Monitor roadmap progress, risks, dependencies, commitments, and outcomes, and communicate direction, priorities, changes, and commitments to relevant internal stakeholders and customers.

Customer Discovery and Product Insight

  • Maintain direct access to customers and users; lead discovery, research, concept validation, and product feedback to understand workflows, needs, pain points, and desired outcomes.
  • Synthesize customer insight, product-health analytics, market and industry developments, and technical input into product decisions.
  • Capture and evaluate customer problems and product ideas based on strategic fit, customer value, viability, feasibility, product-health impact, and expected outcomes; collaborate across Product to identify shared opportunities and dependencies.
  • Maintain the ideas intake process, including prioritization, status updates, and stakeholder communications within established SLAs.

Product Definition and Prioritization

  • Define the customer problem, business need, intended outcome, and success measures for product investments.
  • Define and prioritize the features and capabilities required to deliver roadmap outcomes, adjusting scope and priorities as customer learning, technical considerations, or delivery constraints emerge.
  • Create and maintain feature definitions in designated tools—including descriptions, business need, customer value, requirements, acceptance criteria, and success measures—to support timely agile planning, delivery, decision-making, and organizational visibility.
  • Partner with Business Systems Analysts, Product Analysts, user experience professionals, Technical Leaders, and delivery teams to translate product intent into actionable work, monitor development progress, and evaluate completed capabilities against customer needs, intended outcomes, acceptance criteria, and Product Excellence standards.

Release Planning and Go-to-Market Activities

  • Strategically plan product releases and update tools accordingly with details such as release dates, milestones, status, and progress.
  • Provide product excellence input to the Strategy Leader and Marketing to support Strategy-led launch planning, positioning, and messaging.
  • Own the creation of product content and demos that support Marketing-owned enablement materials, and provide subject matter expertise for training the field.

Two-in-a-Box Partnership

  • Operate as “two in a box” with a peer Technical Leader — jointly accountable for solution design, build decisions, and business outcomes within the product area.
  • Partner with the Strategy Leader on product-market fit, Early Adopter success, and Key Deal/Key Project support.
  • Support Product Analysts on the team who own product-health insight — usage, quality, and performance analytics that inform Roadmap decisions.
  • Apply AI-forward and AI-assisted product management practices to discovery, definition, and delivery.
