We’re hiring a Product Manager to own medical billing workflows and worklists in athenaCollector. You’ll translate complex billing rules and clinical workflows into clear, high‑impact product experiences that help practices capture charges accurately, reduce administrative burden, and maximize revenue. This role combines outcomes-driven roadmap leadership with hands‑on collaboration across engineering, UX, analytics, and client teams to deliver and drive adoption of modernized billing capabilities.
Team & Impact
You’ll join the RCM product team focused on core billing workflows used daily by practice staff. Your work directly affects client revenue capture, operational efficiency, and provider time spent on administrative tasks versus patient care. You’ll partner with product leadership, product operations, and client-facing teams to prioritize, deliver, and scale features that move the needle for athenaCollector customers.
Core Responsibilities
Own product discovery, vision, and roadmap for assigned billing workflow area; develop business cases and prioritize investments based on customer impact and measurable outcomes.
Define epics and write clear user stories (including UX/CX and support requirements) for an Agile scrum team; make tradeoffs between scope and schedule with a focus on outcomes.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, UX, analytics, product operations, and client teams to deliver high‑quality, high‑impact features.
Partner with UX to deeply understand end‑user and leadership needs and translate those into usable workflows and worklists.
Identify, define, and track success metrics (adoption, time‑to‑resolution, revenue capture, error rates, etc.) and use data to guide prioritization and iteration.
Be the customer advocate for your product area — own the end‑to‑end customer journey and touchpoints.
Drive rollout, adoption, and enablement in partnership with product operations and client‑facing teams.
Monitor market trends, regulatory impacts, and competitive landscape to inform product direction and future opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
5+ years professional experience; 2–4+ years in product management or equivalent cross‑functional delivery experience.
Strong understanding of medical practice operations, healthcare revenue cycle, and health IT (experience with work management platforms is a plus).
Demonstrated success bringing products to market and driving measurable business outcomes.
Proficiency with product management practices including Agile/scrum, backlog prioritization, and user story definition.
Data‑driven mindset: experience using analytics and quantitative methods to prioritize and measure impact.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to influence stakeholders across the company.
Experience in RCM, billing workflows, or athenaCollector is strongly preferred.
Work Mode & Location
Hybrid role based in Boston, MA with an in‑office expectation of one day per week.

Expected Compensation
$121,000 - $207,000The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
