Introduction

We’re looking for a talented Design/Illustration intern to join our design team (industrial design, UX design, design research) here at iRobot. The Design Intern will work with our Product Designer to help deliver world class unboxing and onboarding experiences for our customers.
This is a full-time internship (40 hrs; M-F) at a hybrid capacity in our Bedford, MA office from May to August with potential to extend until December. Student must be within a commutable distance.

Must have a virtual portfolio on resume. Please include an example of an electronic illustration in Illustrator if you have one.

What You Will Do:
This Internship will involve making design decisions, documenting the product’s features, and helping to create user flows to ensure consistency across our product lines. You will assist our team in the creation of user documentation and educational materials that are clear and user friendly. Please join us to build cool stuff!

  • Develop and design user documents (owner’s guides, quick start cards, setup guides, etc..) across all iRobot products.
  • Work with cross functional team members to develop clear, concise instructional content
  • Design brand-consistent visuals and guides true to iRobot’s brand and design standards
  • Engage in brainstorming sessions and constructive design critiques to create new and improved online User Documentation.

We are looking for students who are:

  • Proficient in the use of Adobe Illustrator.
  • Proficient in the use of Adobe Indesign.
  • Comfortability with Adobe suite
  • The ability to communicate design concepts through hand sketches, mock-ups
  • Eye for clean, visually impactful Illustrations and designs.
  • Would be beneficial to have experience in a 3D program and rendering program such as Rhino, Solidworks, Keyshot or similar.
  • Beneficial to have experience designing mobile educational content.
  • You are self-driven but collaborate well within the team
  • The ability to take feedback with open minded and do the same thing to people
  • You are ambitious and focused, but you don’t forget to have fun
  • You proactively contribute to a culture of respect and inclusion
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in product design, graphic Design or related field.
  • Must be within a commutable distance to our Bedford, MA office
  • Must have a virtual portfolio
