Deepgram is the leading platform underpinning the emerging trillion-dollar Voice AI economy, providing real-time APIs for speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS), and building production-grade voice agents at scale. More than 200,000 developers and 1,300+ organizations build voice offerings that are ‘Powered by Deepgram’, including Twilio, Cloudflare, Sierra, Decagon, Vapi, Daily, Cresta, Granola, and Jack in the Box. Deepgram’s voice-native foundation models are accessed through cloud APIs or as self-hosted and on-premises software, with unmatched accuracy, low latency, and cost efficiency. Backed by a recent Series C led by leading global investors and strategic partners, Deepgram has processed over 50,000 years of audio and transcribed more than 1 trillion words. There is no organization in the world that understands voice better than Deepgram.
Company Operating RhythmAt Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.
Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.
Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.
Note: This is a remote role based in Pacific Time, with a preference for candidates located in San Francisco.
About The RolePlayground and Console are where developers meet Deepgram for the first time. Our redesigns are shipping into development now, and both surfaces have steady, real UI work ahead of them.
We're looking for a Product Designer to own that execution. You'll work alongside our senior designers on feature-level work, take assigned pieces end to end once the direction is set, and float to whichever surface needs design hours that week. The work is well-defined and it matters: it is the first impression of the product for most of the people who use it.
This role is deliberately flexible. You'll build fluency in our design system, our developer audience, and our product faster than you would sitting on one surface for a year, and you'll be the reason senior designers get to stay on the problems only they can solve.
You'll report directly to the Director of Product Design.
Your first chapter: feature-level UI across Playground and Console, running on Cosmos, our design system.
What You’ll DoDesign and refine UI across the Playground and Console experiences, working from a defined problem and a general solution direction
Support senior designers on feature work, taking assigned pieces end to end with minimal guidance once the approach is set
Pick up design work wherever capacity is needed, across product surfaces
Apply Cosmos consistently, and exercise judgment on the edge cases the system does not answer yet
Document the why alongside the what, so your decisions are legible to the team and to engineering
Give regular updates, present your rationale in critique, and give your peers feedback worth having
Use our AI and design tooling in your day-to-day work, and share what you learn with the team
Take pride in execution, and care whether the spacing is right
Want range early, across multiple surfaces and problem types, rather than one narrow lane
Like designing for developers, and find technical products more interesting than intimidating
Want to learn from senior designers by working next to them on real work
Are excited to move at the pace of AI and figure out where these tools genuinely help
We care more about expertise and leadership than years of experience.
Strong UI craft, with a portfolio that shows clear visual and interaction judgment
Experience taking feature-level work end to end, from direction through production handoff
Fluency working inside a design system, and the judgment to know when a pattern does not fit
Clear written communication, including the reasoning behind your decisions
Comfort with technical or abstract product surfaces
AI tools already in your daily practice, with a view on where they help
Experience designing for developers or technical users, including APIs, SDKs, documentation, or console workflows
Exposure to B2B SaaS with both self-serve and enterprise motions
Prototyping skills beyond static screens
Experience contributing to a design system rather than only consuming one
Curiosity about voice, audio, or real-time products
