About Assembled

Great customer support requires human agents and AI in perfect balance, and Assembled is the only unified platform that orchestrates both at scale. Companies like Canva, Etsy, and Robinhood use Assembled to coordinate their entire support operation — in-house agents, BPOs, and AI — in a single operating system. With AI Agents that resolve cases end-to-end, AI Copilot for agent assistance, and AI-powered workforce management that optimizes both human and AI capacity, Assembled helps teams deliver faster, better service while making smarter decisions about how to staff and automate. Backed by $70M from NEA, Emergence Capital, and Stripe, we're building the platform that makes AI and human collaboration actually work.

We’re looking for a product designer to join our AI support product teams, with a focus on designing and building AI-backed customer support experiences, both from the perspective of our customers, and our customers’ customers — the people who need support. We believe in a future where AI and people work together to solve problems, and Assembled’s role is to be the orchestration layer that improves support experiences by having the right technology and the right people in the right place at the right time.

Responsibilities
  • Create, refine, and iterate on significant new products and features for AI-backed support and support operations. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders. You will help clarify problems, shape solutions, and your work will have a measurable impact on our business.

  • Mentor other designers. You will play an active role in growing the craft of product design at Assembled and improving our UX team and culture.

  • Deeply understand our users. You'll help others understand what different users need, and what they find satisfying and frustrating. You'll lead critical research and share it with others to build understanding of user needs with colleagues.

  • Be the steward of our product experience. You'll design major experiences across our product, creating patterns that are intuitive and durable, and helping raise our standards of excellence.

  • Improve our visual and interaction design. You'll contribute regularly to our design system and collaborate with others to improve industry standards for workplace software design.

About you
  • 5+ years experience in B2B software design. You're excited to work in complex domains. You can take ideas from many different people and distill them down into useful primitives. You make reasonable trade-offs between simplicity and flexibility.

  • Zero to one mindset. You are eager to iterate quickly in a collaborative environment, with creativity and new ideas. You are good at balancing scope, speed, and quality.

  • Calm under pressure. You know how to help steer teams and projects toward better, more efficient outcomes.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You can quickly get up to speed in active projects, identify what’s needed, and push things forward — even when the path isn’t fully defined.

  • Hungry and motivated. You’re determined to build something exciting and meaningful, and you know what great looks like.

  • Customer driven. You love talking to users and understanding their needs and desires, and you can help others understand them too. You help keep projects organized around what your users actually need.

  • Detail oriented. You have keen skills in designing complex workflows and interactions. You have experience designing with data and data visualization, and you’re thoughtful about visual design.

  • Technically curious and AI cognizant. You have aptitude for web front-end technology. You are curious and informed about what AI technology can do (and can’t do). You work effectively with engineers to build great software. Experience and enthusiasm for making changes to code is an asset.

  • Comfortable designing for the system. You’re confident with Figma and accustomed to designing and building re-usable, extensible web components. Experience with React is a bonus.

We know great candidates don’t always meet every requirement listed in a job description. If the role excites you and you believe you can make an impact at Assembled, we encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and are committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels like they belong and has the opportunity to do their best work. We look forward to hearing from you!

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
